Course Title: Foreign Language 2 Korean
Course Code: FLE 2 Korean
Prerequisite: none
Course Credit: 3 units/18 weeks
Course Description:
This course is an introduction to Korean language and culture. This course will introduce
Hangul (Korean writing system) and provide students with a basic foundation of Korean
language skills in all the areas of listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Skills will be
developed with a particular emphasis on effective oral communication, the acquisition of
concrete vocabulary, and basic grammar skills. Students will learn salutations, self-introduction,
buying things, ordering food, making arrangements, and such. In addition, this course will also
introduce Korean culture, literature, ad etiquette based on basic Korean level.

A. Evaluate their own ways of learning basic Korean language and culture
successfully.
B. Use the learning experience of learning Korean and make the language more
meaningful for them.

III. COMMUNICATION CAPABILITY


A. Convey ideas in Korean language through listening, speaking, and writing in
Hangul.
B. Adopt cultural and intercultural awareness and sensitivity in communication of
ideas.
C. Present ideas persuasively and creatively.

IV. CULTURAL AND SOCIAL AWARENESS AND RESPONSIBILITY


A. Apply their knowledge of Korean language and culture to their jobs or vocations
in a professional way.
B. Have the capacity to gather and interpret relevant information (usually within
their field of study) to deliver judgments including a reflection on relevant social,
scientific, or ethical topics.
C. Promote learning the Korean language and culture to encourage less cultural
misunderstandings.

 Exert a high level of effort and persevere towards goal attainment.
