ANALYSIS LITERARY ELEMENTS

Elements Description
Characters Owl - is a Protagonist who sings with his guitar and marries
Pussy-Cat
Pussy-Cat - is a Protagonist, she is a beautiful Pussy-Cat.
Setting In the sea with a beautiful pea-green boat.
For a year they sailed to the land where the Bong-Tree grows.
Plot
This nonsense poem begins with the two main characters, the
owl and the pussycat, on their voyage (Exposition). They
declare their love for one another and decide to get married
(Rising Action). After that, they search for a ring leading
them to a pig (Climax). They marry after the pig sells them its
nose ring for one shilling (Falling Action). There is much joy,
and the poem concludes with the owl and pussy-cat dancing
under the moon (Denoument).
Point of View Fist-Person and Third-Person Point of view
Theme Expression of Love, Joy, and Marriage. A world with no
sorrow, suffering, or obstacle.
Style Imagery- the author used imagery to show the happiness of
the characters in the poem, such as in the lines “The owl and
the pussycat went to the sea”, “they took some honey and
plenty of money”, and “there in a wood a Piggy-wig stood,
with a ring at the end of his nose”.
Alliteration- “Oh lovely Pussy, Oh Pussy my love” is the lines
we can hear the repetition of the consonant sound of P and L.
Personification – In the story, we can see that the owl could
sing and play guitar, and the characters could talk. That is the
human trait that we can animate to animals.
Metaphor- the author compared the character to a human.
The owl and the pussycat are animals, but they are compared
to humans.
