INTERNATIONAL STUDENT REQUIREMENTS

Admissions √Checklist

International students must adhere to all of the Barton Community College admissions policies as stated below:

1. ____ INTERNATIONAL ADMISSIONS APPLICATION

All new international students will be charged a one-time non-refundable application/enrollment fee of
$150.00 after completing their first initial enrollment at Barton Community College.

2. ____ ADMISSIONS APPLICATION FOR BARTON COMMUNITY COLLEGE

Application deadlines: Fall semester - May 1 Spring semester – October 1

3. ____ TOEFL SCORES

A minimum TOEFL score of 500-paper/173 computer is required. Students from an English speaking
country are not required to take the TOEFL. A conditional admission may be allowed for a TOEFL score
under 500/173. Enrollment will be restricted under this conditional admission. Students may be required
to enroll in appropriate English as a Second Language course(s) upon arrival.

4. ____ SCHOOL TRANSCRIPTS - HIGH SCHOOL/COLLEGE - NEED OFFICIALS

All students are required to submit official copies of high school and college transcripts. The transcripts
must be translated in English and must include a graduation date and be properly certified. Faxed or
copies will not be accepted as official.

5. ____ HOUSING APPLICATION

International students must submit an application for housing along with a $120.00 deposit. The housing
office cannot hold a room for any student without the required deposit. If a housing deposit is not
received, your application for admissions will be denied.

6. ____ HEALTH INSURANCE

All international students are required to have adequate medical insurance. Information about purchasing
health insurance can be obtained from the College Nurse.

7. ____ IMMUNIZATION FORMS

Each student must provide copies of their immunization record in English. IMMEDIATELY ON
ARRIVAL TO CAMPUS arrangements must be made with Student Health Services to have a medical
assessment, TB screening and review of immunizations. This is MANDATORY prior to attending
classes.

8. ____STATEMENT OF FINANCE
Sponsors must complete the Statement of Finance and provide a bank statement. No federal financial aid
is available to International students.
*The minimum academic year expense is $12,000 to $13,000. (9 months)

9. ____ TRANSPORTATION TO BARTON COMMUNITY COLLEGE

The closest major airport to Great Bend is mid-continent airport in Wichita, KS. Great Bend does have an
airport and provides flights arriving from Kansas City only. It is the student’s responsibility to make
appropriate arrangements to the Barton Community College campus. Students may be picked up from the
Great Bend airport or the Great Bend shuttle drop-off with advance notice. Rides from Kansas City and
Wichita are not available from Barton Community College.

10. ____ PHOTOCOPY OF PASSPORT

IN A DENIAL OF YOUR ADMISSION TO BARTON COMMUNITY COLLEGE.
