The Statue of Liberty

The Statue of Liberty is located in New York , United States of

America .It was given to America as a gift from France to celebrate the
one hundred years of independence .
The Statue of Liberty is considered as the most famous American
landmark. It is 93 meters high and weighs 225 tons. It is made of
copper. It was designed by Frederic Auguste Bartholdi in 1876 .It was
built in France .The project took nine years to be completed . Its
construction finished in 1885 .It was separated into 350 pieces and
transported to New York , U.S.A in the same year .
American government declared it as a national monument in 1924 .
It is visited by more than three million visitors every year .
