APPENDICES Commented [a12]: Attchments of pertinent documents

Appendix A

Profile of the User

Aetas lives in mountainous part of Central Luzon. They have simple kind of living. Planting is the

most common occupation. They plant root crops to have food to eat and some of their harvest are sold

in the lowland. Other Aetas work as a tour guide, they also make handicrafts and some of them work in

the city. The Agta or Aeta had the very basic lean-to shelter among the Indigenous People, the lean-to

reflects the Agta hunting and gathering ways of life. Constructed along the principle of a tripod using

strong, light branches and palm fronds, this portable and disposable shelter is brought to wherever the

Agta wishes to gather or is simply left behind. This present day, Aetas are now living in a more conventional

lifestyle compared to their previous one. From sticks, stones and palm leaves; their houses have already

evolved into bamboo elevated from the ground and covered with cogon grass. Most of them are now

settling in a place for much longer period of time.

The Aetas are suffering from socio economic marginalization where they do not have access to

quality education and unable to get stable jobs. They are the ones in need of community development. It

will help them rise from poverty and become productive members of the society where they can get stable

jobs like lowlanders.

Appendix B Profile

of the Client

Mabalacat City Government

MABALACAT

Mabalacat became a first class municipality in July 1996. One barangay, Marcos Village, is

inhabited by Negritos who live in bungalow houses and speak broken English. Its land of 15, 262 hectares

is more than double that of Angeles City’s. Two-thirds of the land area of Clark Air Base was taken from

Mabalacat. Its people are peace-loving and God-fearing as well as hardworking and industrious. They speak

the Kapampangan dialect, which is very rich in vocabulary and culture.

Sample Letter of Intent

July 13, 2018

Mr. Rosanno Paquia

City Planning and Development Ofice
Mabalacat City, Pampanga

Dear Mr. Paquia:

Greetings!

We are 5th year students of the University of Santo Tomas-Legazpi taking up BS Architecture. We
are currently undertaking our undergraduate thesis research paper in Design 9 as partial fulfillment for the
requirements of our program this 1st Semester SY 2018-2019. Our project proposal which we would like to
study is entitled KAMIHA: A Proposed Sustainable and Vernacular Tribal Community for the Preservation of
the Aetas.

In this connection, we would like to seek for your very kind approval to allow us to gather data and
information from your good office about the population of the Aetas in the Philippines to give us further
knowledge for the completion of our endeavor. As a research catalyst, we are also pleased to search for new
innovations and technologies that are most significant in our nation building through our humble work.

Thank you and hoping to merit your consideration regarding our request.

May God bless you more!

Very truly yours,

Ina May M. Abaño
