face masks (8,9, 10, 11, 12) and how would these be disposed of properly (4,5,6,7) with more than 75%
rating on each item.

Attitudes of Face Masks Disposal

The respondents strongly agreed that touching and disposing of improperly used face masks can make
them infected with viruses and this will not be safe for the people around them and for the
environment. This also leads to their apprehensions about upcycling and repurposing used face masks.

Practices Involving Face Masks Disposal

Common ways or practices of the respondents are always discarding used face masks and not reusing
them. This is also evident in having an answer of “never” on items about burying used face masks and
burning used face masks. Disposing of face masks ends with throwing and putting them in trash bins
without making sure of their safety and mitigating the spread of the virus.
