Disk Image Recovery Procedure GeoSwath 4

1. Scope
This document describes how restore from a master disk image using the USB recovery
drive supplied with GeoSwath 4 and GeoSwath 4R systems.

2. Requirements
The following components are required for this procedure.
 Keyboard
 Mouse
 Monitor
 Power source and power leads
 USB Recovery Disk (supplied in the system software pack)

3. Before you start

GeoSwath 4R Boot Sequence


GeoSwath 4R systems must have the BIOS Boot sequence changed for this procedure.
Please remember to revert the settings back afterwards.
3.1. Start-up the GeoSwath 4R and press delete on the keyboard repeatedly until the
BIOS screen appears.
3.2. In the BIOS Boot menu change device 0 to [USB Hard Drive 0].

3.3. Save the settings and shutdown.

4. Recovery Procedure
4.1. Connect the USB recovery drive to a spare port on the Deck Unit.
4.2. Attach a mouse, keyboard and monitor to the Deck Unit. Connect to an appropriate
power source.
4.3. Switch on and press the system start button on the GeoSwath system. If recovering a
GeoSwath 4R system, wait until the License Agreement appears (got to next step).
On a GeoSwath 4 Deck Unit, as the system starts press F11 to enter the boot menu.
Use the keyboard cursor keys to select UEFI drive then press enter.

4.4. Wait for a few seconds, the License Agreement will appear. Click ‘Yes’.

4.5. The hard disk drive will be detected and a prompt shown to warn that all data will
be overwritten and lost. Click ‘OK’.

4.6. A window will appear giving a summary of the operations which will be performed
during the image restore. Click ‘Start’ to begin the process.

4.7. When the restoration process is complete, click ‘OK’.

4.8. Click ‘OK’ once more. Promptly remove the USB recovery disk from the Deck Unit
as it restarts.

4.9. The recovery procedure is now complete. On GeoSwath 4R systems please


remember revert the BIOS back to boot from the SATA hard disk drive.
IMPORTANT!
Prior to survey, please remember to update GS4 (or GS4 Remote) to the latest
release and install any additional software applications you require.
