YOUR MACHINE IS SKIPPING STITCHES ‘There are ots of reacone this happens. It ‘means the top thread isnot reaching the ‘eobbin, and the threads aren't interiocking and resulting in skipped stitches. Check that your needle has been installed correctly and that you're using the right needle for your sewing project. Re-thread your machine ~ both top ‘and bobbin threads, In most cases, this will ik the problem. You can encounter lots of problems when using your sewing machine that can be frustrating especially in lockdown! Here are six common problems that are easily resolved witha little know-how! FE a ei) Firstly check that youre using the correct weight ‘ofthe thread. A too-thicker thread can distor lightweight fabrics, and a too-tighter thread can ‘cause tension probiems. Also check for uneven eed — is your presser foot pressure correct, and the feed dogs working correctiy? f not try using ‘a walking foot for an even feed on sippery or heavier weight fabrics, 5 THREADS ARE BREAKING \" your thread look frayed — your needle and thread probably are not compatible and your need may not be larger enough for the thread to pass through the eye without catching, If you hear this horrible noise stop sewing ‘mmnediately! Your machine may be in need of ‘a good clean and oll To do this, refer to your ‘machine’ instruction manual or visit our Learn toSewpage =, We alsorethread our sewing machine too — just to be sure! This can happen when you backstitch over the lends of the fabric. To avoid this happening, start sewing a few more milimetres into your fabric before starting to backstitch so the backstitches are not on the edge of your fabric. Do the same atthe end of your seam.
