Good morning to all, we are group 2.

Our group members are

BO YING YUN, CHOW YUEN TING, LER TECK HO, SOO RUI JIE,
TAN YOU, and YESSOTHRAA. now Im going to start our
presentation. NEXT SLIDE
We were using the Bangsar Village 2 as our existing building for
doing our Building Science part 2 assignment. Bangsar Village II
is a high-class shopping centre located in Wilayah Persekutuan,
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. NEXT SLIDE
FIRST OF ALL I am going to talk about the ventilation of
Bangsar Village II
Ventilation is the process by which "clean" air, typically
outdoor air, is purposefully delivered to a space and stale air is
removed. A building will always experience "air infiltration" in
addition to planned ventilation. NEXT SLIDE
Next, there is 2 types of ventilation which is natural
ventilation and mechanical ventilation. The pressure difference
between the interior and outside of a building causes air to
flow through openings. Besides, a controlled airflow is known
as mechanical ventilation. NEXT SLIDE As u all can see, There
are figures that shown the difference between natural
ventilation and mechanical ventilation. NEXT SLIDE
For the observation n analysis, the building features a meagre
natural ventilation system and only a few windows. The
majority of the windows are also shuttered. The only option to
allow for natural ventilation is through the entrance door.
NEXT SLIDE
Also, there is the natural ventilation which is the exchange
airflows that happen through open doorways. The buoyancy
caused by temperature variations - which are let to float over a
wider range of temperatures. NEXT SLIDE
For the improvement of the Bangsar Village 2, despite the
building's natural ventilation occurring in addition to the
mechanical ventilation system. The building's interior air quality
still has to be improved for the visitor experience. NEXT SLIDE

Elevation Information
For the elevation information, the paint of the front façade and
rear façade (listen grp1 pronounce) is using conventional paint.
It is a smooth mixture of plasticizers, biocides, pigments,
hardener, drying accelerators, and solvents. The conventional
paint has contained the Volatile organic compounds (VOC)
which may cause respiratory, metabolic disease, and other
disease. However, although the cost higher, low VOC or free
VOC should be applied since is safer and eco-friendlier. NEXT
SLIDE
Next, the wall of the front door is done by brick wall complete
with plaster and paint. Although this material is soundproofing,
preserve existing walls in good shape and give the ideal surface
for printing, light weight concrete is more eco-friendly to the
environment and it has the lower amount of the power needed
of air-conditioning, excellent sound absorption qualities and so
on. NEXT SLIDE
Next is the fixed glass panel also used by the BV2. It allows the
natural sunlight to enter the building, but it will lack ventilation
system. However, operable windows should be used on it. This
is because the ventilation feature present. The ventilation will
moistures the building so that condensation not accumulate
and also can reduce bad smell. NEXT SLIDE Moreover, the front
façade will add the shading, climbing plant, fiber optics
daylighting system and material. NEXT SLIDE

Next is the Lighting.

Lighting defines as natural and artificial lighting. There are few
types of natural lighting such as diffuse and uniform light, direct
light, zenith (Zinerf) light, and reflected light. There are also few
types of artificial lighting which is ambient lighting, task lighting,
accent lighting, and decorative lighting. NEXT SLIDE
Zenith (Zinerf) light shines into the space from the ceiling such
as skylight. Other than that, the sunlight can be reflected into
the building through the two entrances and the strip windows
on the highest floor. The windows on the 4-corner façade of the
building are blocked by billboards. 4 façades of the building are
covered by large boards. NEXT SLIDE
For the improvement of the lighting, we have installed light
pipes, atrium daylight control, system or fins system, fiber
optics daylighting system, and timber louvres. NEXT SLIDE
For the artificial lighting, the ceiling of every storey is regularly
illuminated by LED spotlights. Also, the LED advertising lighting
screens are too bright. For the facades, the combination of
lighting techniques can create a foreground effect and a 3-
dimensional impression on its façade. That’s all for me. I’ll pass
to
NEXT SLIDE
Next, we talk about the model, Bangsar Village 2. Firstly, the
façade of the original Bangsar village 2 is boring. So, we add the
green façade covered with greenery to decrease the
surrounding temperature. The human can feel relaxed and
comfortable. Then the dark and light grey colour is lightweight
concrete, which can lower the cost and energy for air
conditioning. It has excellent sound absorption qualities. Then,
the balcony and opening in the middle of the front façade
improve ventilation and add access between the right and left
balconies. While the climbing plant on the balconies can filter
the sunlight and increase the humidity of the surroundings.
Besides, the yellow circle is fibre optics daylighting system. It is
to improve daylighting in a building. It collects the sunlight and
will transfer into the interior space through the optical fibres.
The important is no transfer the heat. Furthermore, the yellow
colour frame is lighting. At night, it will shine and make the
façade of the building more eye-catching.

Then the roof of Bangsar Village 2 is designed to improve the

ventilation. It is also a green roof, the grass on the roof can
absorb the radiation of sunlight. It can reduce the temperature
and provide a comfortable environment for tourists.
Next, it is the left side view. We just change the material of the
façade to lightweight concrete and green façade at the frame.
The corner of the building is also decorated with shrubs.

Next, it is a rear view. We add more openings to flow in more

natural light. It is to reduce the use of artificial lighting and
reduce the cost and energy. Then we also decorated the
vertical garden, climbing plants, and shading around the
window openings. The yellow circle one is fibre optics
daylighting system. There are also trees and scrubs on the
ground floor.

Next, is the right-side view, it is designed the same as the left-

side elevation.

Next is the top view, the big circle in the middle of the roofing is
an atrium. We make the atrium bigger to let in more sunlight.
Then the fins of the atrium are movable, it can follow the angle
of sunlight. If sunlight is too hot, it will switch down.
Furthermore, the yellow circle on the roof is a light pipe or
heliostat. The sunlight will reflect into the interior through the
light pipes. Besides, solar panels are also installed to collect
sunlight to provide energy.

THAT’S ALL FOR OUR PRESENTATION. THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR
