GREETINGS

V: In the Name of the Father +

and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

R: Amen.

V: The Lord be with you.

R: And with your spirit.

3
INTRODUCTION TO THE CELEBRATION

V: Coming home to this house of the Carpenter,

we cannot fail to miss the lady of the house,
Mary, who is Mother to us all.

Mary is rightly called Mother of the Church.

At the foot of the cross,
Christ gave Mary to us, as our own mother.

As she cared for and nurtured Christ, her Son,

her motherhood extends
to all the members of his Body,
especially to those
who are suffering and marginalized.

Mary is our model of love and service,

of a life constantly open to God's will
and available for others,
where, in her heart,
a very special place is prepared
for those who are poor and abandoned.

And so, we turn to her with confidence,

asking her intercession and help
that the fire of love and service for others
may always be enkindling in us.

4
SALUTATIONS TO MARY

V: The angel of the Lord declared unto Mary.

R: And she conceived by the Holy Spirit.

ALUMNUS 1
Through her sacrifices, Mary has become in a special way
the comforter of the afflicted. It was by her own experience
of sorrow that she was taught the sympathy, which enables
her to comfort her suffering children.

Let us pray…

Mary, Mother of all Christians, you never lost sight of your

children, especially those who are suffering and in distress.
The Holy Church proclaimed you; the Comforter of the
Afflicted, for you never abandoned those people the world
has rejected. You are the joy of the sorrowful, the health of
the sick, and the protector of the weak. In your loving arms
you carried them and filled them with your motherly love.

Grant that we too, may never lose sight of our brothers and
sisters who are suffering. Grant us the grace to always be on
the side of the weak and the suffering, amidst the surging
temptation of power.

May we be the welcoming presence for those people who

were abandoned by the world. May our lives and ministry
be a comfort for those people who have lost hope, and a light
in their darkest moments of their lives.

Hail Mary…

5
V: Behold the handmaid of the Lord.

R: Be it done to me according to your word.

ALUMNUS 2
Through the intimate relationship of Mary to her Son,
“King of Peace", she has been venerated as "Our Mother,
Queen of Peace". In times of war and conflicts, Mary's
intercession was invoked to bring back peace and unity in
the lives of the people.

Let us pray…

O Dear Mother of Jesus and our mother too, in your intimate

love for your Son, you shared with Him His mission, to
bring back all to the loving embrace of God, to unite all of
humanity. As a mother, you always seek the good of your
children. You direct hearts in the way of peace and
unceasingly call everyone into unity.

Teach us always to follow the path of peace and dialogue.

Make our hearts constantly open and willing to understand
and accept others, that though our lives all people may come
to know your Son, the "King of Peace". May we be agents of
forgiveness and reconciliation, bearers of fairness and justice,
and be bridges of communication amidst conflicts, so that
we may be united as one people of God.

Hail Mary...

V: And the Word was made flesh.

R: And dwelt among us.

6
ALUMNUS 3
Through Mary's great love for God, she endured with faith
and hope everything, even those she could not understand.
Amidst surging difficulties, she stood firm, by her Son in
suffering and death. She is a mother supporting and
protecting the faith of her children.

Let us pray...

O loving Mother, you so love your Son that you stood firm
beside Him, amidst all the struggles and suffering you
encountered along the way. You became an exemplar of
faith, a pillar of strength for you never wavered in your
belief to hope amidst great suffering and pain you felt in
seeing your Son's own suffering. In the unexplainable pain
you felt while holding close to your heart the dead body of
your Son, you did not fall into desperation and
discouragement. You became a source of strength for the
disciples in the time of grief, awaiting the gift of the
Paraclete.

O grant to us, dear Mother, the grace of faith amidst all the
difficulties we encounter in serving our brothers and sisters.
Amidst all the disheartening events we experience in life,
may we never waver to give up ourselves tor our brothers
and sisters. And when we see impossibility in the
woundedness of our world, may we never lose hope. May
we never fall into despair. Rekindle in our hearts the great
love for service. May it burn our cold and tired hearts so that
it may love and serve again. May your love constantly move
us to go beyond ourselves for others.

7
Hail Mary…

PRAYER TO MARY

After the reading, a brief period of silence follows. Then, the leader begins:

Let us pray…

Mary, Mother of us all, your silent yes at the foot of the

Cross is the full blooming of the yes you made at the
beginning of your vocation: a yes of faith pronounced not
only in the deepest of joys but also in the sharpest of pains.
Help us to cultivate our yes of discipleship, so that our
apostolate may bear abundant fruit.

You followed Jesus into his Passion as you hurried to

Elizabeth in her distress, help us to run always where there
is greatest need, always saying yes to the call of the Master
who came not to be served but to serve. You cradled the
Savior with love not only at His birth but also in His death,
may our lives always resound as a song of praise to the
Father and a hymn of faithful love, at every moment of our
lives.

From the cross, Jesus gave you to us to be our Mother, and

we have recourse to your protection because you have
always lived your yes. Be with us now, as every day we go
up to the same altar. As we lift up the spotless Lamb to the
Father in the Eucharistic banquet, help us to offer ourselves
in union with Christ, Priest and Victim, so that even our frail
and sinful priesthood, lived in constant obedience,
availability, and self- denial, may give life to the people of
God. O Mother and Model of all disciples, do receive us into
your care as you received John. We entrust our priestly life
and ministry to you

11
Help us to say and live our yes with our whole being. Keep
us strong and hopeful amidst all the challenges and
discouragements we face.

Rekindle in us the zeal of love and the preferential option for

the poor and the marginalized of our society. May our
ministry and our lives become bridges of change, that we
could truly become bearers of the Kingdom of God here on
earth, now and always. Amen.

After some silence, the presider intones the hymn. He then incenses the
image of the Blessed Mother as all sing:

SALVE REGINA
Traditional

Salve Regina,
Mater misericordiæ,
vita, dulcedo et spes nostra, salve!
Ad te clamamus, exsules filii Hevæ.
Ad te suspiramus, gementes et flentes,
in hac lacrimarum valle.

Eia, ergo, advocata nostra,

illos tuos misericordes oculos ad nos converte.
Et Iesum, benedictum fructum ventris tui,
nobis, post hoc exilium, ostende.
O clemens, o pia, o dulcis, Virgo Maria!

V: Ora pro nobis Sancta Dei Genetrix.

R: Ut digni efficiamur promissionibus Christi.

12
PRAYER
O God, who chose the Blessed Virgin Mary, foremost among
the poor and humble, to be the mother of the savior, grant,
we pray, that, following her example, we may offer you the
homage of sincere faith and place in you all our hope of
salvation. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, who
lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God, forever and ever.

V: Rejoicing for the great gift of the priesthood, let us

enter the house of the Lord singing of the wonders
the Lord has done for us.

ANG PUSO KO'Y NAGPUPURI

Eddie Hontiveros, SJ

REFRAIN Ang puso ko'y nagpupuri,

nagpupuri sa Panginoon.
Nagagalak ang aking Espiritu
sa 'king Tagapagligtas.

1. Sapagkat nilingap niya,

kababaan ng kanyang alipin
mapalad ang pangalan ko
sa lahat ng mga bansa.
REFRAIN

2. Sapagkat gumawa ang Poon

ng mga dakilang bagay
banal sa lupa't langit ang
pangalan ng Panginoon.
REFRAIN

13
3. At kinahahabagan niya ang mga
sa kanyay may takot.
At sa lahat ng salinlahi
ang awa niya'y walang hanggan.
REFRAIN

4. At ipinakita N'ya ang lakas

ng kanyang bisig;at ang mga
palalo'y pinangalat ng Panginoon.
REFRAIN

5. Ibinulid sa upuan ang mga

makapangyarihan;
itinampok, itinaas ang mga
mabababang loob.
REFRAIN

6. At kanya namang binusog

ang mga nagugutom;
pinaalis, walang dala
ang mayamang mapagmataas.
REFRAIN

7. Inampon N'ya ang Israel

na kanyang aliping hinirang
sa dakila niyang pagmamahal
at dala ng laking awa niya.
REFRAIN

8. Ayon sa ipinangako n ya,

sa ating mga magulang;
Kay Abraham at lipi niya,
at ito'y sa magpakailanman.
REFRAIN

14
9. Luwalhati sa Ama
at sa Anak at sa 'Spiritu Santo;
kapara noong unang-una,
ngayon at magpakailanman.
REFRAIN
