mixtures which
components
differ in size
2. Magnetic Separation
• Process that
uses magnet to
separate
3. Filtration
• Process that
can separate
suspended
particles from
the liquid
4. Decantation
• Process of
separating a
mixture of
liquids that
differ in density

• Used to
separate a
solute that has
been dissolved
in water

Lesson 9:
HUMAN SENSE ORGANS
(Grade 3)
Look at yourself in the mirror
and focus on your eyes.

What do you see?

Take a look at the external part
of your ear.

What do you see?

How about your nose?

What do you see?

Now, examine your tongue and
skin.

How does the skin as an organ

differ from your tongue?
SENSE ORGANS OF
THE BODY
1. The Eye
• Organ that
allows one
to see
• Light enters the cornea
• Iris expands or
contracts in response
to light
• Pupil changes its size to
control the amount of
light
• Retina contains
millions of light-
sensitive cells (rods and
cones) that receive and
organize visual
information. Your
retina sends this
information to your
brain through your
optic nerve, enabling
you to see.
• Optic nerve is
connected to our brain
How do you take care of your
eyes?
2. The Ear
• Make us
identify
sounds
around us
• We hear because
the outer ear
collect sound
waves that travel in
the air to the ear
canal
• Eardrum vibrates
and moves small
bones of middle
ear
• the fluid filled
cochlea produce
vibration as sound
travels to inner ear
What are the ways by which we
can take of our ears?
3. The Nose
• The nose
makes us
smell
• Nostrils- the two
opening of the
nose stimulates
smell receptors
along the nasal
cavity
• The stimulus is
carried to the brain
by the olfactory
nerve and is
interpreted
4. The Tongue
• The tongue is not
only used for
tasting;
• We use our
tongue to
articulate sounds
for speech
5. The Skin
• All over the
human body
