number.

Ans. One number = 10, 52,010 and let the other number be x

Sum of two numbers= 32,455,014

10, 52, 010  x  32, 455, 014

x  32, 455, 014  10, 52, 010
x  31403004

Hence, the other number is 3,14,03,004.

17. The product of two numbers is 56430 and their L.C.M is 45. Find their H.C.F.

Ans. Given, L.C.M = 45

Product of two numbers = 56430

We know, Product of two numbers = H.C.F × L.C.M

 56430 = H.C.F × 45

56430
 H.C.F =
45

H.C.F = 1254

18. A company earned Rs. 1,42,55,675 in 2010. Next year the earnings of the company
increased by Rs. 3,28,345. How much did the company earn in the year 2011?

Ans. Earning of company in 2010 = Rs. 14255675

Earning increased in 2011 by Rs. 328345
Therefore, Earning of company in 2011 = Rs. (14255675+328345)
= Rs. 1,45,84,020

(3 Marks Questions)

21. Rakesh bought a cooler for Rs 7,300 and paid Rs 60 for its transportation. He sold
the cooler at a loss of Rs 150. For how much did he sell it?

Ans. Cost price of cooler = Rs. 7300

Transportation cost for cooler = Rs.60

So, the total cost price of cooler = Rs. (7300 +60) = Rs. 7360

Loss on sale of cooler = Rs. 150

We know that,
Loss  Cost price – Selling price
150  7360 – Selling price
Selling price  Rs.  7360  150 
Selling price  Rs. 7210

Hence, Rakesh sold the cooler for Rs. 7210.

22. Find the HCF of 324675 and 375.

Ans.

Factors of 375 = 3×5×5×5

Factors of 324675 = 3 x 3 x 3 x 5 x 5 x 13 x 37

Common factors are 3, 5, 5

Hence, H.C.F = 3×5×5 = 75

23. Is 43567268 divisible by 4?

31. Uma works in bank. She sits at cash counter. When there are too many coins, she
does not count them. She weighs them. The weight of 1 ten rupees coin is 9gm. Now find
how many 10 rupee coins are there in a sack of if it weigh:

a) 180kg

Ans. Since1kg = 1000 g. So, 180kg = 180000 g

180000
If one coin weighs 9g, then the sack weighing 180000g has  20000 coins in it.
9

b) 81kg

Ans. Since1kg = 1000 g. So, 81kg = 81000 g

32. Rohan plans to tile his kitchen floor red square tiles. Each side of the tile is 5cm. His
kitchen is 320cm in length and 150cm in breadth. How many tiles will he need?

Ans. We know that,

Area of rectangle = Length × Breath

Area of floor of kitchen = Length × Breath

= 320 ×150 = 48000 cm 2

Also we know, Area of square = Side ×Side

So, Area of one tile = 5×5 = 25 cm 2

Hence, Rohan needs 1920 tiles.

33. Binita and Sarita were playing a guessing game by writing clues about a secret
number. Each of them tried to write clues about a secret number. Everyone tried to
guess the other’s secret number from the clues.
Can you guess their secret numbers?

(a) It is larger than half of 150.

Ans. It is larger than half of 150 means >75

(b) It is more than 8 tens and less than 9 tens.

Ans. It is more than 8 tens and less than 9 tens means it lies between 80 to 90

(c) The tens digit is two more than the one’s digit.

Ans. The tens digit is two more than one’s digit 8-6 = 2

(d) Together the digits have a sum of 14.

11
Ans. Together the digits have a sum of 14, so the number is 86

34. If Soha’s heart beats 72 times in one minute, how many times does it beat in one
hour.
(a) Now find out how many times it beats in one day.
(b) Count your heart beats to find out how many times your heart beats in one week?

Ans.
(a) Number of times Soha’s heart beats in 1 minute = 72

Number of times Soha’s heart beats in 1 hour i.e. 60 minutes = (72×60) = 4320 times

So, the number of times Soha’s heart beats in one day i.e. 24 hours = (4320×24) =
103680

(b) On counting I found my heart beats 70 times in one minute.

My heart beats (70×60) = 4200 times in one hour

My heart beats (4200×24) = 100800times in one day
My heart beats (100800×7) = 705600 times in one week

35. Ahil has Rs.1200. He spends one-fourth of the money on oranges and another three-
fourth on meat. [Orange = Rs.150/kg and Meat = Rs. 1800/kg]
(a) How many kilograms of oranges did he buy?
(b) How many kilograms of meat did he buy?

Ans. We have, One- fourth of Rs.1200 = Rs. (1200/4) = Rs.300

Three-fourth of Rs.1200 = Rs. (1200/4) × 3 = Rs. 900

(a) Money spent on oranges = Rs. 300

Price of per kg orange = Rs. 150

So, for Rs. 300, he bought 2kg orange.

(b) Money spent on meat = Rs.900

Price of per kg meat = Rs. 1800

So, for Rs.900, he bought half kg meat.

36. Arohi, Rohan Preity and Sandeep made greeting cards. Complete the table for their
cards.

12
Whose card Length (cm) Breadth(cm) Area Perimeter(cm)
(m2 )
Arohi 6 10 ? ?
Rohan 10 12 ? ?
Preity ? 4 80 ?
Sandeep 20 ? 100 ?

Ans. In case of Arohi,

We have, Length = 6cm and Breadth = 10cm

Perimeter = 2(length + breadth)
= 2(6+10) = 32cm

Area = Length × breadth

= 6 × 10 = 60 cm 2

In case of Rohan,

We have, Length = 10cm and Breadth = 12cm

Perimeter = 2(length + breadth)
= 2(10+12) = 44cm

Area = Length × breadth

= 10×12 = 120 cm 2

In case of Preity,

We have, Breadth = 4cm and Area = 80 cm 2

Area = Length × breadth

 80 = Length ×4
80
Length =  20cm
4
Perimeter = 2(length + breadth)
= 2(20+4) = 48cm

In case of Sandeep,

We have , Length = 20cm and Area =100 cm 2

Area = Length × breadth
 100 = 20 × breadth
100
Breadth =  5cm
20

13
Perimeter = 2(length + breadth)
= 2(20+5) = 50cm

Therefore the complete table is as below:

Whose card Length(cm) Breadth(cm) Area( cm 2 ) Perimeter(cm)

Arohi 6 10 60 32
Rohan 10 12 120 44
Preity 20 4 80 48
Sandeep 20 5 100 50

37. Ria and her husband work on Sitaram’s farm. The Government has declared that
farm workers should be paid at least Rs 71 for one day’s work. But he pays Rs. 50 to
Ria and Rs. 55 to her husband. If Ria works for 49 days, how much money does she get?
If her husband works for 45 days, how much money does he get? Find the total money
they earn together.

Ans. Given,

Ria’s one day wage =Rs. 50

So, Ria’s wage for 49 days = Rs.(50×49) = Rs. 2450

Hence, Ria will get Rs. 2450 for her work.

Husband’s one-day wage = Rs.55

So, His wage for 45 days = Rs. (55×45)= Rs.2475

Hence, Ria’ husband will get Rs.2475.

Total money they earned together = Rs.(2450+2475)= Rs. 4925
