INTRODUCTION

The measuring of two points and more in an eleva on is known as levelling. Within this
prac cal, we have focussed on the levelling method known as the rise and fall method. In
this method, we started with a TBM with a known reduced level of 100.00 m. Bench marks
will be set up and the change points between will be arranged in order to note down its back
sight and foresight. A er the prac cal is done, reduced levels will be determined.
Adjustments to reduced levels will also be done if the calcula ons were slightly inaccurate
but s ll acceptable.

OBJECTIVE

• To conduct a levelling survey to check the as-built levels of various structures.

• To nd the eleva ons of given points in rela on to the TBM

• To understand the fundamental of levelling, how to book the raw data collected and
ge ng the reduced levels from the collected data.

INSTRUMENTS

• Tripod Stand

• Level Sta

• Measuring Tape

PROCEDURE

1. The TBM was decided and its reduced level was assumed to be RL 100.00 m.
2. The levelling instruments were set up on a rm surface
3. The instruments were arranged at point A
4. The sta was held ver cally to take a reading. This was taken as the back sight and
the rst reading was taken down.
5. The sta was subsequently switched from point A to point C, with the
intermediate sight reading obtained.
6. The sta was then relocated to point D in order to get the foresight reading. A er
then, the level was shi ed.
7. The data in the eld book was used to compute the distance between sta ons.
8. At level posi on 2, steps 3 through 7 were repeated un l all points were covered.

CONCLUSION

In this prac cal, we computed the calcula ons by using rise and fall method and height of
the collima on method the exercise had achieved its aims, to Indicate all the reduced levels
for the loca ons from A to E.

The ∑BS -∑FS =∑Rise-∑Fall =Last RL –First RL rise and fall method and ∑BS -∑FS =Last RL –First
RL height of collima on method is the arithme cal check to verify the accuracy of
calcula on.
