Discuss IIUI as a formal organization .

Formal organization :

A century ago, most people lived in small groups of family, friends, and
neighbors. Today, our lives revolve more and more around formal organization,
large secondary groups organized to achieve goals efficiently. Formal
organizations, such as business corporations and government agencies, differ
from families and neighborhoods in their impersonality and their formally planned
atmosphere.
A formal organization is a social system structured by clearly laid out rules,
goals, and practices and that functions based on a division of labor and a clearly
defined hierarchy of power. Examples in society are wide-ranging and include
business and corporations, religious institutions, the judicial system, schools,
universities and government, among others.
Formal organizations are designed to achieve certain goals through the collective
work of the individuals who are its members. They rely on a division of labor and
hierarchy of power and authority to ensure that the work is done in a unified and
efficient manner. Within a formal organization, each job or position has a clearly
defined set of responsibilities, roles, duties, and authorities to whom it reports.
International Islamic University (IIUI) was established in 1980. In 1995
IIUI got the formal status of an International University and since then it has
functioned as an independent administrative body under the constitution of
Pakistan. IIUI has its specific function to provide education. It has certain norms
and values that makes it different from other organizations. It has a specific
division of labor that is based on specialization of tasks. For example, a student
who has an issue in his fee challan will contact the fee section department
instead of the lecturer. It's all because of division of labor. All departments of IIUI
have a hierarchy of authorities. Because if there is no authority, there is no formal
organization. There is a proper arrangement of statuses and roles, e.g the role of
driver is to drive a bus, the role of professors is to teach the students, and many
other employees have different divisions of labor. All the members of IIUI act
together to achieve a shared goal, not individually. There is a defined system for
replacing members within the university. Employees in IIUI, earn a wage for
giving their time and labor to the university and students in it develop knowledge
and skills and earn a degree in exchange for respecting the rules and authority
and paying tuition. The unsatisfactory members of university are replaced by
more satisfactory members. And the most important thing is that our university
IIUI has its own specific logo and name which is the main characteristic of formal
organization.
