Second Installment Payment Relief - MBAMSc - 2021
Dear Madam,
Regarding the second installment of the MBA /MSc Program Course fee.
As the MBA/MSc 2021, students we are well aware that the second installment of the course fee
dues this semester, and the message is communicated to us via an official email.
The COVID-19 pandemic began in late 2019 and brought massive negative impacts on human
lives and economies in all nations. With the invention of precautionary measures and vaccines to
prevent the pandemic, the world could see a light in the darkness in the year 2021. Accordingly,
most economies began to regain their momentum in this victorious year. Even though Sri Lanka
was returning to a healthy mind, SL had to face the most economic downturn in recent history
since 2019 with an uphill battle. As a result of this severe economic downturn, Sri Lanka has hit
the highest inflation ratio. The Fuel crisis, transportation difficulties, social unrest, and battle for
food are the major outcomes of this unpredicted economic crisis.
As a result of these two different crises, most of the students are having difficulties in paying the
stated second installment (Rs. 218,000/=) on or before the given deadline. As the bank interest
rates have escalated dramatically, now the students can’t expect relief by financing the stated
installment via banks and even most of the banks have temporarily ceased loan granting.
From the entire MBA/MSc -2021 batch including weekday and weekend groups Hundred and
Thirty Two students (132) have not paid the stated second installment as of 7th October 2022.
Due to the non-payment status of these Hundred Thirty-Two (132) students, if the university
authorities decide to hold their examination candidacy, that will lead 99% of the MBA/MSc 2021
batch to incomplete their degrees on time.
Some batchmates have lost their jobs and all of us are experiencing the bitter truth of a real crisis
with degraded living standards. Parallelly the payment of this much amount has become a heavier
burden and a tremendous pressure on the mentality during this studying period, which hinders the
concentration of the students on this important examination. Therefore, we would be highly
grateful, if you consider the above difficulties and allow us to pay the second installment as follows
All of us have commenced the MBA/MSc program at this prestige university as we know the value
addition it makes to us as individuals. While honoring all the rules and regulations stipulated by
the University, this is a sincere request as a batch during this hard time.
Your prompt attention and positive response in this regard will encourage us to continue our
learning practices further with great focus.
