MULTIGRADE LESSON PLAN IN

MATHEMATICS
GRADE 1 AND II
Topic: Ordinal numbers
Grade Level: Grades 1 and 2
Objectives: Grade 1
The students will be able to:
 demonstrates understanding of ordinal numbers up to 10th
 recognize and represent ordinal number up to 10th
 reads and writes ordinal numbers, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, up to 10th

Grade 2
The students will be able to:
 demonstrate understanding of ordinal numbers up to 20th
 recognize and represent ordinal number up to 20th in various
forms and contexts.
 identifies and uses of naming ordinal numbers from 1st to the
20th
Materials Needed:  White board/ Writing board
 Chalk/Marker
 Chart
 Textbooks
Procedures: 1. For grade 1. Write on the board ordinal number from first to
tenth {1st (First), 2nd (Second), 3rd (Third), 4th (Fourth), 5th
(Fifth), 6th (Sixth), 7th (Seventh), 8th (Eighth), 9th (Ninth), 10th
(Tenth)}
2. For grade 2. Write on the board ordinal number from first to
twentieth {1st (First), 2nd (Second), 3rd (Third), 4th (Fourth),
5th (Fifth), 6th (Sixth), 7th (Seventh), 8th (Eighth), 9th (Ninth),
10th (Tenth), 11th (Eleventh), 12th (Twelfth), 13th (Thirteenth),
14th (Fourteenth), 15th (Fifteenth), 16th (Sixteenth), 17th
(Seventeenth), 18th (Eighteenth), 19th (Nineteenth), 20th
(Twentieth)}
3. For grade 1. Show them a picture that place first to tenth
(Race of cars, Racehorse, Running Race, and honor
ranking).
4. For grade 2. Show them a picture that place first to tenth
(Race of cars, Racehorse, Running Race, and honor
ranking).
5. Give an example on the board, example show them a picture
of running race. Write on the board the name of the runners
along their position.
6. Explain that Ordinal numbers represent position of things,
with respect to their place.
Evaluation: For grade 1. Show them a picture of animals that places 1st (first) to
10th (tenth) and let the students put the position of animals.

For grade 2. Make a two column on Column A the ordinal numbers

on the Column B the corresponding word, let the students match it.
Extension Activity: Make a poster of the Month of Year and write the Ordinal places of
the months.

MULTIGRADE LESSON PLAN IN

MATHEMATICS
GRADE 1 AND II
Topic: Addition of whole numbers
Objectives: Grade 1
The students are expected to:
 demonstrate understanding of addition of whole numbers
up to 100 including money;
 apply addition and subtraction of whole numbers up to
100 including money in mathematical problems and real-
life situation;
 illustrate addition as “putting together or combining or
joining sets
Grade 2
The students are expected to:
 demonstrates understanding of addition of whole
numbers up to 1000 including money;
 apply addition of whole numbers up to 1000 including
money in mathematical problems and real-life situations;
 counts the value of a set of bills or a set of coins through
PhP 100 (peso-coin; centavo-coins only; peso bills only
and combined peso- bills).
Material Needed:  Writing board/ Blackboard
 Marker / Chalk
 Mathematics Textbook
 Play money
Procedures 1. Write on the board 23 and 12 and ask the students what
the answer is.
2. Tell the students that there is another easier method to
solve this question mentally. First cut the number into
tens and ones and then count how many “tens and ones”
and then add. Tell the students that this strategy will help
them to add numbers mentally without using a piece of
paper.
3. Using play money ask the students to make PhP100
/PhP1000 (5pcs of Php20, 10pcs of Php10, 2pcs of
PhP500, etc.)
Evaluation: For grade 1. Adding using picture of coins and money. Example
picture of 2pcs of 20 pesos and 2pcs of 5 pesos are 50 pesos.

For grade 2. Make a problem solving and let them answer.

Example, Lana bought bananas for 25 pesos, apples for 30 pesos
and mangoes for 60 pesos. How much did she spend? The
expected answer was 25 and 30 and 60 are 115 (25+30+60=115).

Extension Activity: For grade 1. Let the students make PhP100, using paper bills and
coins.

For grade 2. Let the students make PhP1000, using paper bills
and coins
