-Dr. Zues Salazar
The pantayong pananaw(PP) here tries to establish a closed-circuit engagement with the use of
local language to have a continuous discourse concerning the locals and not its ‘outsiders’ for the
progress of their civilization. In studying ethics, the aforementioned statement above is integral
to understanding how communities build a meaning on what is right and wrong PP is created
when the people of the community share the same characteristics, values, knowledge, wisdom,
aspirations, practices, behavior, and experiences with the use of language. Since pantayong
pananaw is derived from the words "tayo" and "pananaw," it implies that the word "tayo" can
assert that only one pananaw is correct while others are not, that only the majority of people
know what is right for everyone, while arrogantly dismissing other points of view despite their
actions and policies that are detrimental to the welfare of the people. Will acting in accordance
with PP be counterproductive to knowledge generation since once everyone thinks the same way,
there's no room for disagreement or dialogue? Wouldn't everyone be terrified of being accused of
doing anything wrong pananaw?
