Crochet Pattern

Materials and tools
1. Yarn 100% cotton – 50 g of skin color, some blue yarn for the sandals. I recommend you to
use yarn that has approximately 200-250 m (220-270 yards) in 50 g skein. You can use
acrylic yarn. The thicker yarn you use, the bigger toy you will get. Matching crochet hook
(I used 1.25 mm).
2. «Pelican» Vita cotton (100% cotton, 330 m (360 yards) in 50 g skein) some dark-blue color
for the sandals decoration, blue, dark-blue, white, brown and black for the eyes. Matching
crochet hook (I used 0.75 mm and 1 mm).
3. Novelty yarn (faux fur), pile length 3-4 cm (1.2-1.6 inches) 90 m (100 yards) in 100 g skein
– 50 g for the wig. I used Nazar-Rus "Fluffy" (100% polyester, 90 m/100 g) color №2019.
Matching crochet hook (I used 6 mm).
4. Stuffing.
5. Single core copper electrical wire for a frame – I used 1 m (40 inches) of wire 1.5 mm in
diameter, adhesive plaster on a fabric basis for machining the edges of wire.
6. For the sewed rompers: the cut of thin cotton fabric (30х30 cm), elastic thread –
spandex, 2 press-buttons, 2 small buttons for decoration.
7. For the crocheted rompers: yarn 100% cotton 280 m (310 yards) in 50 g skein, matching
crochet hook (I used Alize ―Miss batik‖ color №3716, hook 2 mm and 1.5 mm), elastic
thread – spandex, 2 small buttons.
8. Any material for tinting you like.
Finished size approx. 20 cm (8 inches) using the materials stated in the pattern.

If there is a record in the brackets in the pattern, multiplied by some number, for example

Tip (make it right)

If there are no special notes, the toy is crocheted under both parts of
the loop. In some rows, there are special notes: ‗into the front loop only‘
or ‗into the back loop only‘. In that case, you need to follow these
instructions.
Tip (yarn and wire)
If you use different yarn, the toy will be bigger or smaller and you will need more or less yarn and
wire than stated in the pattern (i.e. thicker yarn will produce a larger toy and you may require more
yarn and wire).
If you decide to use thicker yarn you should buy thicker wire as well. The thicker your yarn the taller
the toy will be.
Tip (gauge)
When making toys, you should use a much smaller hook than recommended for the yarn you have
chosen.
Make sure you crochet tight enough; otherwise, the stuffing will show through the holes.
Tip (shift stitch)

While working, you will need to keep the work symmetrically. As work tends to twist to the right you
need to adjust position of the marker periodically (beginning of the round). If you notice that marker
moves right, you need to work one extra stitch in the end of the round and move marker for one
stitch (now 2nd st of the round becomes 1st). This is shift stitch – it is not included in description of
rounds.
Usually you have to do shift stitches every 3-5 rounds (depending on the yarn, hook and your gauge).
To check if it is time to work shift stitch fold your work in half and check if marker still goes
straight.

Note: stuffing of the details – it is not such simple stage of creation of a toy as it seems at
the beginning. Always be accurate when stuffing details: you can easily spoil th e form
which the author tried to crochet if somewhere you stuff insufficiently, but somewhere – is
too strong. However you can easily improve a detail for m by stuffing. Therefore you need
look at the detail you have, with the help of the filler you can mold such form which is
pleasant to you.

Eyes (make 2)
Crochet the eyes with «Pelican» Vita cotton, previously having divided it into two threads (the thread
consists of 4 bound threads, for crocheting the eyes you need take only two of them), hook 0.75 mm.
You can apply one cunning in the course of crocheting so that the color changes will not be so visible.
Having stopped crocheting row with one color, take out a hook from a loop and enter it under the
following stitch, then insert a hook into the working loop. Hook the yarn of other color, pull it through
a loop on a hook and pull up through a stitch to the right side (it is as slip stitch, only interchange the
position of loops). Pull this sl st so that it will not be visible, then crochet ch and continue crocheting
following the description of rounds.
Start with black yarn.

Fasten off, cut the yarn. Attach the brown thread to the 15th stitch of the 6th round and crochet
24 sl st into the back loop only. Hide the ends of the threads; use the white thread to embroider the
white shine on the pupil. Pay attention that the white shines on the pupils watch in one party.

Hair
Novelty yarn (faux fur), pile length 3-4 cm (1.2-1.6 inches) 90 m in 100 g skein. I used Nazar-Rus
"Fluffy" (100% polyester, 90 m/100 g). Hook 6 mm.
It is important to receive elastic cloth with the minimum quantity of pile when crocheting of the wig,
otherwise hair will stand upright. Therefore crochet freely. I took the biggest hook which I had.
If you use other yarn for the wig, then estimate amount of pile on the thread basis: if fibers
frequent, then it is necessary to crochet as free as possible and if fibers are seldom, then it is
better to crochet the circle with single crochet, and in this case select a hook so that the cloth as a
result turned out elastic.
Try the wig to the head of your doll in the course of crocheting (perhaps, you should increase or
reduce quantity of stitches or rounds).

Nose

Fasten off, cut the yarn leaving enough to sewing.
Decoration
Bend the ends of the body wires so that the turned-
out loop reached at least the middle of the head, but
better to the nape. Cut off an excess wire if
necessary. Wind with an adhesive plaster.
Embroider the curve of the ears using chain stitch and skin color yarn. Without cutting the thread,
crochet 1 round of sc in the embroidered stitches, starting from the bottom for the right ear and
from the top for the left ear. Fasten off, cut the yarn and hide the end.

Sew the nose to the head, having added a little stuff. Sew the eyes to the head with a sewing thread
(cling to each stitch, otherwise the eye will lay down with the hillocks). With brown thread embroider
the mouth and the eyebrows.
Pin the wig to the head. Stretch it in a shape of the head, using the fact that you have an elastic
cloth. Sew the wig to the head with a same colored sewing thread.
Sew the head to the body. You can slightly tint the face using any material you like (oil pastel, acrylic
or oil paint, etc.)

Crochet the sandals with the same yarn and hook as your doll was crocheted. The marker goes along

Change the thread to the decoration yarn, it has to be a little bit thinner than the main yarn, change
a hook for the smaller one too.
Rnd 11: (ch 3, sl st) х 23
Fasten off, cut the yarn. Crochet around the sandal with crab stitch/reverse single crochet from the
front loops of the 4th round. Hide the ends of the threads. You can sew the small buttons to the toes
of the sandals.

Sewed rompers
Below is given the rompers pattern for the doll of 20 cm (8 inches) tall. You can correct this pattern
according to your sizes. For this purpose you need to measure a grasp of the body of the doll in the
widest place. This size you need to halve and multiply in 1.5 - (S/2) x 1.5 - it will be the width of the
pattern in the widest place. Increase or decrease the pattern by this size. You can increase or
decrease the pattern on your monitor. Then copy the pattern to the paper.
Now you can to transfer our patterns to the material. I recommend at first sew a rompers from any
unnecessary material. You can sew quickly the details by a basting stitch and try on. After try-on you
will see the places on the pattern which you need to correct. So, transfer patterns to cotton fabric.
Cut out, leaving the allowances for seams. If you sew by the sewing-machine – leave an allowance of 10
mm. If you sew manually – leave an allowance of 5 mm. You need cut out 1 detail of the front and 2
details of the panties (the front and the back).
Sew the lateral seams of the panties. Bend the edges of the front detail and sew. Bend the top and
the bottom of the panties and sew at the same time sewing the front detail to any of details of
panties, having combined the centers. Sew the center of the panties bottom, having divided it into
two trouser-legs.

By means of a needle with a blunt end insert a spandex into each trouser-leg and tighten to the grasp
of the leg in the top part. In the same way insert a spandex on the belt, having skipped the front
detail (i.e. begin to insert a spandex from one front end, pass the back and pull out a spandex, having
reached other front end). Tighten to the necessary grasp (determine by trying) and fix with small
knots.
Try the rompers to the doll and determine the straps length. Cut out two rectangles 1 cm wide +
allowances for seams. Bend of the edges and sew. Sew the one press-buttons detail to one edge of
the strap; you can sew the small button to outer side of the strap for decoration. Sew the second
detail of the press-button to the rompers front. Once again try the rompers to the doll and sew the
straps to the back.

Crocheted rompers
Select the yarn for the rompers so that it is decently thinner the main, but at the same time take a
larger hook to receive a soft, openwork cloth. Pay attention that panties are crocheted as a usual
rectangle and the form is created with the help of the of spandex which is inserted into the bottom
of the trouser-legs and to the belt, i.e. the crocheted cloth will gather folds and if you crochet
densely, the panties will be stand upright.
I crocheted the rompers for the doll of 28 cm (11 inches) tall with Alize ―Miss batik‖ (100% cotton,
280 m (310 yards) in 50 g skein), hook 2.5 mm.
Measure the doll tummy grasp in the widest place.

I have 24 cm (9.5 inches). Multiply this size in 1.5 (24 х 1.5 = 36 cm = 14 inches). Crochet the chain
equal by length to this size. The quantity of the stitches has to be multiple 8 (the pattern rapport), if
you need decrease or increase several stitches. I have 120 sts. If you have less than 80 sts, it is
better to use a pattern with a smaller rapport, for example, such as this:

Crochet the next round with a spandex - lay it along stitches and crochet sc, enfolding a spandex
thread:

Rnd 25 (with a spandex ): ch, 60 sc, sl st in the first sc – you have the first trouser-leg; cut out a
new piece of spandex and crochet with it the second trouser-leg – continue crocheting with the 61th
stitch - 60 sc, sl st in the 61th sc.
Take a littler hook (I have 1.5 mm) and crochet around

of the both trouser-legs: (ch, sl st) х in each st
around. Fasten off, cut the yarn. Tighten the spandex
threads on the trouser-legs to a leg grasp in the top
part.

Try the panties to the doll and count how many stitches it is necessary to use for front. I decided
that for me there will be enough 24 sts.
Take a littler hook (I have 1.5 mm) for the front, straps and decoration that the cloth was more
dense and accurate. Count from the back seam of the panties necessary quantity of sts (I have 48
sts) and crochet the front:
Rnd 1: ch 2, turn, dec dc, 20 dc, dec dc (22)
Rnds 5-7 (3 rounds): ch 2, turn, 16 dc (16)
Try the rompers to the doll and determine the straps length.
Crochet the straps. Count from the back seam of the panties 10 sts to the left and to the right and
crochet the chain of the necessary length (I have ch 47). Last 5 sts of the chain – it is eyelet for a
button. Crochet several dc and check sufficient or not such eyelet for your button (perhaps, you need
to crochet more or less sts).
Also, I crocheted the straps as follows: ch 47, from the 6th loop from hook:42 dc, skip sc on the
rompers belt and attach the strap to the rompers by sl st. Crochet the second strap similarly.
Crochet 1 row of the sc around the top of the rompers (belt, straps, front), inserting a spandex
thread along the belt (similarly to the trouser-legs) - at the same time skip the front detail (i.e. begin
to insert a spandex from one front end, pass the back and pull out a spandex, having crocheted other
front end). Then crochet the second row: (ch, sl st) х in each st around. Fasten off, cut the yarn.

Tighten to the necessary grasp (determine by trying) and fix by small knots. Sew a small buttons to
the rompers front. Dress the rompers on your doll.
