Harry
Emma
Georges, my dad
I have two brothers and two sisters : Charlie, Harry, Emma and Elizabeth.
I raised my sisters because my parents and my brothers had a lot of work in the fields.
Unfortunately my father died in 1897 of a cow accident ;I was 12 years old.
My mum didn't succeed to manage the farm alone and we became poor quickly.
Because of the great potato famine, we had nothing to eat.
We emigrated in America 67 years ago in 1898.
I remember the boat which brought us in New York. It was very large and red.
I was scared because of the noise of the machine and the number of the passengers.
I also remember the weather was snowy and cold.It was during the winter.
Our uncle Peter and our aunt Jane welcomed our family in New York.
I was very happy to meet them because they left Scotland before my birth.
Uncle Peter was baker and aunt Jane was seamstress.
We lived in there apartment in Stone Sreet. They were happy to welcome children because they
didn't have.
Then they showed us around the city. There was a lot of big buildings ! We walked around
brooklyn bridge and manhattan bridge. We visited the statue of liberty and I went for a walk in
central park !
My mum was seamstress with my aunt and I studied at the school !
