EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

This study is comprehensively based on the recruitment and selection process, payroll
management with special reference to SUCO Bank in Ballari. Banks offer a greater
number of vacancies as compared to other government jobs. Also jobs are increasing
with fast growth in this sector. The banking sector is one of the fastest growing sector
with high potential, and so is the SUCO Bank which is contributing generously to the
economy by currently spreading its branches accounting to 30. The banking industry’s
core competence lies in its people and its intellectual capital. Hence this industry
demands the most qualified and skilled labor force available in the market.

Better recruitment and selection strategies and effective payroll management result in
improved organizational outcomes. With reference to this context an in-depth analysis
is done to put a light on recruitment and selection process and payroll system in co-
orporative banking sector. The main objective of this study is to understand the
recruitment and selection strategy, payroll system of SUCO Bank and make
recommendations for the improvement of these processes. SUCO Souharda Sahakari
Bank is one of the significant co-operative bank which needs a large number of
qualified, high potential and committed staff to attain the organizations’ goals
effectively. The study is carried out with the help of questionnaire method. The study
found that the bank have an extensive selection process consisting of CV screening,
employment test, interviews and background test. At the end of the study some
suggestions are made to review the process. It also identifies the role of HR and the
payroll software being used so as to analyze the satisfactory level of employees and
suggest the required solutions that will lead to higher employee retention and
improved performance in the bank.
