Child Find

Child find is the legal duty of a district to Child Find

Duties of Child Find is even extended to

duties cover all the students who are resident
home-schooled and those attending private
schools that are located within the district.
Each district is required to be having
procedures and policies describing steps that
should be taken in discharging the obligations
of Child Find. The student suspected to be
having disability is referred by the district to
the committee on Special Education or to the
section of 504 Team. The bodies will give
authority to evaluate and determine to the

eligibility of the student for classification as
special education student or not as well as
accommodations/services appropriately.
Disability of the children must have been
confirmed as well as should be under 3 years
of age for them to eligible. Children can also
qualify if they have establishment delay in at
least one or more areas of development. The
areas to be considered under delay
development include cognitive,
communication, adaptive, social-emotional
development and physical such as hearing,
feeding swallowing and feeding. (Program

The following steps are included in the Child

Find process so that the mandate is effective.

Those who care for the children are informed about signs of

disability.

Identification and reporting of possible signs of disability

Child screening to approve and confirm the signs of disability

Child evaluation to verify signs of potential disability.

Disability servicing.

If a kid is found to be eligible for special education services,

an individualized education plan, or IEP, will be created for

them. The child's strengths and needs are described in the

Individualized Education Program (IEP), along with the

objectives and services that will be offered to the child. This

report is created by a team of experts who collaborate w ith

the parents of the child. (GO Health, 2021)


To ensure that every child with a handicap has the

opportunity to take part in a public school program that is

both free and suitable for their needs, the "Child Find"

system was created.
