Old Spice needed (нідид) an image (імідж) makeover. The past image was out of
touch with the modern man and was meant (мент) more for the modern man’s
grandfather. The makeover was kicked(кікд) off with a 2010(твені тен) Super
Bowl(бов) Ad that launched(ланчд) a viral(вайрол) campaign(компейн).
Instead(інстед) of trying(траін) to target young men, the new campaign targeted
women associated(асошіетід) with those(зос) men. The campaign shows the Old
Spice man telling women that their men can smell as good as him if they use Old
Spice products.
The Old Spice man is played by Ісая Мустафа, who is also a former(формер)
football player. They shaped(шейпд) future advertising(едвертайсінг) using the
same actor. Old Spice was successfully(сіксесфелі) able to lift that image(імідж) of
its products being(біенг) for older men.
4. Nike: Just Do It
The "You Deserve a Break Today" slogan made its debut in a 1971(найнтін
севентіван) television commercial(комершал). The modified(модефайд)
version(вершін) of the slogan—"Have You Had Your Break Today?"—was
recognized(рекогнАйзд) by Advertising Age(едвертайсінг ейдж) as the number
one advertising(едвертайсінг) jingle of the century(сентурі). When(вен)
McDonald's introduced(інтродуст) their "Have You Had Your Break Today?"
What Do These All Have In Common?
On the surface, the campaigns listed in this article don’t seem to have much in
common with each other, as they all sell something different. What they do have in
common, though, are easy concepts for consumers to grasp. The messages are clear
without needing much explanation. The products and messages are instantly
recognizable, too.
