DRAFT 1:
(Villager 1 and 2 converse at center stage, while the rest move around them, as if busy.)
(Villager 1 and 2 exit out as a group of fishermen enters center stage, each with their own
baskets for fishing.)
(Group of fishermen gets ready to fish while wives bid them goodbye.)
FISHERMAN 1: *pulling the rope that anchors the sail* Unta maayo ang balod karun arun
daghan tag makuhang isda.
FISHERMAN 2: Lagi, badi. Gamay ra raba tong nakuha nato gahapon. *scratches head*

WIFE 1: *shout from a distance* Putoy, ayaw kalimot sa inyong balon!
FISHERMAN 3: Lagi!
FISHERMAN 1: Lami na sad tog lutong sud an si kumare, bai.
FISHERMAN 3: Mas lami japun siya.
(Two women, each with their own baskets, are walking towards two other women.)
BABAE 1: *while holding a basket of rice grains* Kadami man diay sa atoang ani karon,
Mima.

Kaganina gikan mi nag-ani ni Mima. Tan-awa uroy ang biyaya nga gihatag kanamo.
BABAE 1: Ayaw kamo kabalaka, magtunga ta kaninyo sa ani aron kita tanan makakaon ug
tanong.
(While the villagers scramble here and there, lighting shifts to two women giving birth. On
stage right, the lighting is bright with a sun prop. On stage left, lighting is dim with a moon
prop.)
(Music stops. A pained scream is heard then a sound of a baby crying. Villagers stop. A brief
silence as they look at each other, and then–)
(Community celebrates, some are dancing around as they continue to exchange goods.)
(Kid Gabin-on points at Kid Adlawan, challenging him. Kid Adlawan puffs his chest out
and crosses his arms, arrogant. Kids around them are cheering and taunting, as if they are
so pleased watching the two tensing up.)
Gabin-on.
(Kid Adlawan walks away proud, taking one last look at Kid Gabin-on as if bragging before
completely exiting. Kid Gabin-on is left looking at him with hateful eyes.)
(A hut’s window opens, revealing a beautiful maiden in a traditional outfit. Her hair looks like
silk and her face was that of noble grace. She narrows her eyes around before running a few
fingers on her hair, smiling.)
(Adlawan and Gabin-on enter the stage but from different sides, slowly as if enchanted by
Abyang's beauty.)
ADLAWAN: *staring at Abyang like an idiot, mouth agape* Kagwapa ba gyud. Murag tanang
GABIN-ON: *in awe* kagwapa ba gyud ni Abyang, pati iyahang personalidad, dili
kamahayan.
ADLAWAN and GABIN-ON: *at the same time, facing the audience as addressing them,
acting cool and mighty* Nakapagdesisyon na ko. Akoang panguyaban si Abyang.
(Adlawan walks towards Abyang’s hut. Abyang is by the window, slowly inspecting her
nails.)
ABYANG: *turns to him, slightly interested* Unsa man imohang tuyo nganhi kanako og
ngano imohang gidisturbo ang akong pagpahulay?
ADLAWAN: Unta, dili ko nimo daluan ug tsansa nga ipabatod kanimo ang akoang sinserong
kasing-kasing.
ADLAWAN: *firm* Walay pagduha-duha.
ABYANG: Sige. Pamingwit kadtu daw ug isda ug dal-a diari.
(Adlawan moves away from the hut, towards the other side of the stage [sea], where he
picks up a fishing rod and prepares to fish)
(In the background, sound effects of sea waves play.)
isda.
ADLAWAN: *acts swiftly according to the narration*
ADLAWAN: *fisting air in happiness* Salamat! Salamat, salamat Magyawan! Naa ra jud koy
nakuha nga presko! Akoa na kining mahatod ilahang ka Abyang!
ABYANG: *by the window, looks at the fish he’s caught. Slightly impressed, she nods in
approval* Hmm.
(Adlawan takes a pickaxe and starts to chop wood. He then arranged them and they cooked
the fish together by the fire. The two begin to talk, sneaking glances , and staring at each
other but there will be no sound due to a romantic background music.)
ABYANG: Balik ugma sa oras nga ang adlaw ana-a sa kinatung-an sa langit.
(Adlawan nods, and then exits with a huge smile on his face.)
(Gabin-on enters, stealthily walking towards Abyang's hut. He noticed the lights were out.
Despite this, he knocks by the window.)
GABIN-ON: *normal volume in voice* Abyang, ako usa ka yanong lumulupyo nganhi sa
(No response.)
GABIN-ON: *confused first, and then shouts* Abyang, ako usa ka yanong lumulupyo nganhi
ABYANG: *woken up by the noise, slightly annoyed* Unsa man imohang tuyo nganhi kanako
og ngano imohang gidisturbo ang akong pagpahulay?
GABIN-ON: Ako unta imohang hatagan og higayon nga ipabati ang akong gugma kanimo,
(Gabin-on moves away from the hut, towards the other side of the stage [sea], where he
picks up a fishing rod and prepares to fish)
(Gabin-on visibly struggles. After a few more attempts, he finally settles down, resting a bit.)
GABIN-ON: Salamat! Salamat! Salamat! Naa ra jud koy nakuha nga presko! Akoa na kining
mahatod ilahang ka Abyang!
(With a heavy sigh, he drags himself out the stage, head hung low and dejected.)
(Stage dims for a while, completely dark, before it brightens up again. Sounds of a rooster
crowing and birds chirping plays to signify the change of day.)
ABYANG: *just woke up and immediately scrunches her nose from the foul smell* Unsa man
ron ang nanimaho?! *slightly annoyed*
(Abyang tries to find where the smell is coming from, going around the stage. When she
finds it at the foot of her hut, she looks confused and then she realizes something.)
(Abyang puts her hands on each of her waist and looks at the audience.)
saakoa. *jumps and claps slightly, face brightening* Basta! Magkita pa mi ni Adlawan ron.
(As if on cue, on another side of the stage, Adlawan and his friends enter, carrying with
them flowers and gifts. Jolly music plays, accompanied by happy crowd noises. People are
laughing, smiling, and singing around Adlawan.)
(All stopped doing so when they reached Abyang’s hut. Adlawan is fidgeting in the middle
as they wait for Abyang to open the window.)
KAIBIGAN 1: *patting Adlawan on the back* Doy, ayaw ug kakulba! Sugton lagi ka ni
Abyang! Sa tanan tawo diri sa atoang kumonidad, ikaw ra gayud iyahang ginalingi!
KAIBIGAN 2: Tinuod doy!
ngan! *clapping*
(His friends tease him, nudging him as he swats their hands away.)
(Just then, Abyang opens the window, gasping when she sees Adlawan and the crew. She
quickly tries to go outside but Adlawan stops her.)
(Adlawan and his friends scatter in position. He dusts non-existent dirt on his clothes to
appear decent in front of Abyang and straightens his posture.)
Dili
ako magbag-o, ug dili ako manlimod.
(Sound of swift air engulfs the scene. A tranquil emotion becomes apparent in Abyang’s
expression.)
ADLAWAN: *meek, losing his earlier confidence* Abyang… Unsa ang imong tubag?
(Still silent as Adlawan waits for an answer. Background music plays and fades slowly.
Abyang closes her eyes, then slowly nods.)
(Abyang rushes out of the hut, running towards Adlawan as they hug one another.)
(Music bursts through the stage as villagers enter, carrying chairs, baskets, flowers, food.
They arrange them neatly while dancing around and cheering. A villager places a flower
crown atop Abyang’s head and gives her flowers as well.)
kaminyo-un. Apan dili tanang kalipay hingpit.
(Gabin-on enters the scene, fists clenched and eyes full of hatred. Everyone stops, stares at
him in alarm.)
(Adlawan embraces Abyang to protect her.)
GABIN-ON: Adlawan!
(Gabin-on pulls Abyang to his side aggressively. She slaps him in the face.)
(Adlawan retaliates and punches back. They punched and kicked one another while
Abyang could only try to pull Adlawan away from Gabin-on. After some time, Adlawan
finally managed to plunge Gabin-on to the ground.)
(Gabin-on watches, lips parted before staggering to stand up. Slowly, he walks away but not
without looking at the two one last time. With clenched fists and gritted teeth, he walks
away.)
(Solemn music plays. Scene portrays Gabin-on walking, a bag slumping by his shoulder.
He’s always looking down, appearing broken-hearted.)
(Stage dims and lightens alternately, likewise, the sun and moon prop rise alternately to
signify the passage of a few days.)
(She looks back and sees Gabin-on. They stare at one another for a few seconds before
she shrieks, throwing rocks at Gabin-on which he dodges easily.)
MAGYAN: *stops throwing but still clearly alarmed* Kinsa man ka?!
GABIN-ON: *foolishly* Nakalimot kos akong ngalan sa imong kagwapa…
MAGYAN: *annoyed and concerned* Huh?
GABIN-ON: Huh?
MAGYAN: Buang ka?
GABIN-ON: Pasensiya, nakuratan lang ko. *clears throat* Ako diay si Gabin-on.
MAGYAN: Ug?
Abi
GABIN-ON: Dili kana akong ibot pasabot.
MAGYAN: Ug unsa man diay? *raises brow, tilts head*
GABIN-ON: Karun pa ko kakita ug parehas nimo kagwapa aning kalibutana. Wala lang ko
naanad.
NARRATOR: Sa paghawa ni Gabin-on, ana-a siyay nailang dalaga nga ginganlang Magyan,
og iya kining na asawa. Sa wala magdugay, nagbunga ang ilang pakipaghiusa.
(During narration, Gabin-on offers Magyan a flower but she turns away. He did not put it
down until she turned back, stared at him before she accepted the flower.)
(Two separate settings emerge. Abyang and Adlawan on one side, Gabin-on and Magyan on
the other. Soothing music plays as the scene portrays the lives of the two couples.)
(Highlight a particular scene where both men lean down to listen to the stomach of their
respective wives.)
(After delivery.)
ADLAWAN: Hah! Akoang junior!
kaniya… *tries to move but weakly*
ADLAWAN: Hinay-hinay lang... *shows child* Mao ni siya. Ang atoang pinakagwapo nga
anak.
ADLAWAN: Abyang!
GABIN-ON: Magyan!
(Both men hug their wives, crying. Melancholic background music plays.)
(Adlaon takes a basket with him and walks towards Adlawan who was busy chopping
wood.)
(Adlaon walks around the stage, curious and conscious as he holds his stick weapon:
spear.)
(He spots a wild boar and tries to fight it. Intense music plays. He is utterly defeated and
slumped on the ground, panting until he falls unconscious.)
(As the scene unfolds, Tago slowly enters through the side of the stage, crouching behind
the trees. Panicky, she looks around for anything to distract the boar with and finally sees a
rock. She throws it slightly farther away from the boar, effectively distracting it. Boar exits
from the stage.)
(She waits for a few seconds before hastily running to Adlaon’s seemingly lifeless figure.)
(Tago lays Adlaon on the ground and starts tending his wounds. As she tends to his
wounds, she can’t help but admire the young man, bringing a hand to his face and smiling to
herself. At the sudden warmth, Adlaon opens his eyes slowly)
(Tago’s smile froze, quickly retracting her hand.)
(Adlaon stays still, frozen on the ground while his eyes never leave Tago’s beautiful face.)
ADLAON: N-Naunsa…
TAGO: *confused* Wala ba ka kahinumdom unsay nahitabo nimo ganina..?
ADLAON: *shakes head* Dili… Pero kinsa ka?
TAGO: Kuan… *looks away*
ADLAON: *with certainty* Ikaw diay ang nagtabang nako.
TAGO: *speechless as she stares into Adlaon’s eyes*
ADLAON: *raises his hand and touched Tago’s face*
TAGO: *shocked.*
ADLAON: Salamat. Kaayo. *smiles*
TAGO: Walay problema. *softly clears throat* Ako diay si Tago.
ADLAON: Kanindut sa pangalan. Tinaguan ba sad kang diyosa diini ug nganong karun lang
ko kakita kanimo?
TAGO: *eyes become evasive* Ikaw? Unsa imong… pangalan?
(Sweet melody plays in the background, along with the sound of wind and dancing trees.)
ADLAON: Miss, kung ikaw musugot, pwede ba ta magkita diria panalagsa? Gusto unta nako
makig ila-ila kanimo. *small smile*
TAGO: *flustered* Ha…
TAGO: *stuttering, not meeting Adlaon’s eyes* H-hala, dili man gud ing-ana… *finally looks
at him while nodding* Oh, musugot rasad ko…
ADLAON: *pleasantly surprised* Tinuod ka diha? Kung ingana man *short pause* diri sa
lugar kung asa ta una nagkaila, *looks at surroundings, and then at Tago* diria ta magkita
*smiles*
(During narration, Adlaon and Tago are seen to be walking side by side, silently enjoying
the view while constantly smiling at one another.)
ADLAON: Kanindut ba diring lugara.
ADLAON: *turns to Tago* Imong mama, mama nako puhon.
TAGO: *blinks, unsure of what to say* Wala na koy mama…
ADLAON: *awkward* Ah…Aha diay imong mama..?
TAGO: *shakes head, smiling bitterly* Wala na koy mama, Adlaon. Namatay siya
pagpanganak kanako.
ADLAON: *holds onto Tago’s hands* Parehas ra diay ta… Namatay sad akoang mama
pagpanganak niya.
TAGO: Diay? Kalooy ba sad nato, no?
(They look at one another before Adlaon puts a flower by Tago’s ear.)
(Tago rips her eyes away, the smile on her lips fading as she takes notice of the dimming
sky. Lights slowly dim.)
(Scene dims.)
(Lights on. Tago is seen rushing towards the forest and stops when she sees Adlaon
leaning by a tree. They hugged when they were finally close.)
TAGO: Adlaon!
ADLAON: Tago!
(The two immediately let go of one another, turning to the source of the angered voice.)
GABIN-ON: Dili baligya akong anak!
(Gabin-on grabs Adlaon by the neck, and throws him to the trees. In the background, Tago
can do nothing but cry and ask her father to stop. Gabin-on pays no attention to her.)
(Adlaon grunts in pain as he falls to the ground. Gabin-on moves toward him and steps on
his chest.)
GABIN-ON: Ikaw. Kanang nawonga, dili angay muduol sa akaoang anak! Gaparehas ra jud
mo sa imohang amahan nga walay ayo!
(Gabin-on steps on Adlaon’s chest with more force, until Adlaon vomits blood. Tago’s
cries grow heavier in the background as she helplessly calls for Adlaon’s name.)
GABIN-ON: Karon, makat-on na imohang amahan nga dili mangilog ug unsay dili iyaha.
ADLAON: *weakly, vomiting blood, barely audible* T-Tago…
TAGO: *shouting loudly while crying* Adlaon! Papa, buhii siya! Papa! Pa!
GABIN-ON: *grabbing one of Tago’s arms* Biya-i nang walay hinungdan nga tawhana!
TAGO: *struggling to break free before she slumps and goes silent* *mumbling* …Mangtas
ka…
GABIN-ON: Unsa imong ingon?!
TAGO: *screaming, as if losing her mind and flailing around* MANGTAS KA! WALAY
KASING-KASING! WALA KOY AMAHAN NGA MANGTAS—MUPATAY!
(Light slowly dims. Tago’s pained cries echo through the stage. Slow and sad melody
serenades the background along with the sound of a waterfall.)
NARRATOR: *calmly but with a tint of sadness* Dili na toud mailog ni kinsa ang anak ni
masabtan.
(Gabin-on is seen sitting by a rock near the waterfall. Slowly, he fell. Lifeless at last.)
(Light goes completely out. An ending and intense background music is played until it fades.)
