Overview:
This module discusses the different definitions of literacy and explains what being literate
means in the context in the 21st Century, with the goal of raising awareness in readers who
might be unaware of the evolving perspectives of literacy and the clear definition of
conventional literacy.
Intended Learning Outcome
At the end of this unit, the student are expected to reflect on (a) how literate they are based on
the traditional or conventional concepts of literacy (b) how they could improve or enrich their current
level of literacy (c)how to prepare an evaluation instrument intended for 21 st century teaching-learning
tool

After successful Completion of this unit, you should be able to:

Overview:
This unit discusses the global and multicultural literacies and discover effective ways on how to
integrate global multiculturalism in the lesson using appropriate delivery strategies ,instructional materials
and assessment tools.
Intended Learning Outcome
At the end of this unit, the student are expected generate ways of promoting multicultural
awareness and inclusivity in the classroom and draw relevant life lessons and significant values from
personal experience in demonstrating multicultural literacy.
Module Objectives:
After successful Completion of this unit, you should be able to:
1.Explain the dimensions of multiculturalism.
2. Elucidate on the assessment strategy for global competence and global understanding
3. Analyze research abstract on global and multicultural literacy and its implications on the teaching
-learning process.
4.Draft relevant policy in addressing multiculturalism in school.

Overview:
This unit discusses the meaning of social literacy and how it enables human being to act
positively and responsibly in range of complex social settings and types of social skills that must
be mastered of a child to be social adept.

Inended Learning Outcome


At the end of this unit, the student are expected to generate ways on how to integrate social
literacy in the lesson and draw relevant life lessons and significant values from personal
experience on practicing social literacy while formulating rules that can be implemented at a
particular social contex(e.g. home, workplace, classroom)

Module Objectives:
After successful Completion of this unit, you should be able to:
1..Develop understanding of the working definition of social literacy
2. Explain the roles of parents and teachers in teaching social skills to children
3. Discuss and examine issues in social literacy

Overview:
This unit discusses the relationship between Media Literacy and Cyber/Digital Literacy and how it
should be taught for the protection of students in their consumption of information.

Intended Learning Outcome


At the end of this unit, the student are expected to assess their own skills and competency in
performing certain tasks in relation to media and digital literacies and draw relevant life lessons and
generating, utilizing and creating media tools likewise on digital risks and consequences

Module Objectives:

After successful Completion of this unit, you should be able to:

1.Develop working understanding of Media and Cyber /Digital Literacy and how they relate to one
another.
2. Appreciate the importance of developing Media and Cyber/Digital Literacy both in ourselves and
one another in the information age.
3. Realize that practical steps must be taken to develop these literacies eary in children and cannot
wait “until they are older.”

and how they can be integrated in the curriculum, practiced in the school and demonstrated in the
classroom.

Intended Learning Outcome

At the end of this unit, the student are expected to present effective and practical activities that
promotes other 21st century literacies.

Module Objectives:

After successful Completion of this unit, you should be able to:


1.Define the other 21st century Literacies.
2. Start practical steps to develop personal financial literacy in the Philippine seeting.
3. Describe an ecoliterate person
4. Recognize individual and collective roles in protecting and rehabilitating the environment and the
Ecosystem
5. Identify approaches in developing /designing currriculum that cultivates the arts and creativity
among learners
