Reciprocal Employee Discount

Eligibility
This discount applies to all employees of Paper Source, including those hired as seasonal and brought in
as interns. Eligibility begins upon being issued an Employee ID number on the first day of employment and
ends on the last day of employment. The discount does not apply to independent contractors, vendors and
suppliers, or others, unless specified.
The employee discount is a benefit and as such is non-transferrable.
Your discount is for your own personal use. Your discount cannot be used on merchandise for re-sale or
projects from which you will profit.
Your discount extends to your eligible dependents – which includes your spouse or domestic partner and
dependent children (ages 12-21). No other relative (parents, siblings, etc.) or other relationships (friends,
business partners, etc.) are eligible to use your discount. Eligible dependents must be accompanied by the
employee at the time of purchase.

Brand Eligibility
The employee discount is valid in all Paper Source stores and, in all Barnes & Noble stores. The discount
does not apply to online purchases.

Discount Details
• 40% off the list price of most Gift, books, newsstand, food/Café items and Paper Source
Custom Print Orders (Paper Source Designs Only).
• 30% off the list price of toys and games and eReader/tablet accessories.
• 20% off the list price of electronics, Music/DVD product, Third Party Custom Print Orders
(Crane Stationery, Smitten on Paper, Monique Lhuillier, Ines Di Santo, Paperless Post, Neil
Lane), Silhouette Cameo Machine & Accessories, Evolution Machine & Accessories, Gift wrap &
Balloon service and CBD.
• 15% off the list price of NOOK devices.
Selected merchandise may qualify for a variable discount and merchandise exclusions may apply. Certain
merchandise may only be available in limited quantities and the employee discount only applies to
available products. Employees are prohibited from ringing their own transactions. Paper Source reserves
the right to exclude any product from the employee discount at any time in our sole discretion.

No double dipping on promotional pricing – i.e. if merchandise is discounted for customers, you will
receive either the discounted price or the employee discount, whichever is better.

Associate Discount Number
The use of the employee discount in store will require your employee discount barcode. To access your
barcode:
1. Login to HR Access and select Employee Discount.

2. Then select Click for barcode for a printable employee discount barcode.

To make a purchase in a Paper Source store other than your home store or in any Barnes & Noble store,
you will also need to present a photo ID (driver’s license or state ID) that matches the name on your
employee discount barcode to validate your identity.

Commitment to Sales & Service in Our Stores


Because we want to ensure the highest level of customer service in our stores, we ask that employees are
respectful and deferential; allowing our guests first access to service or checkout when shopping, especially
at peak times. Occasionally employees may be asked to wait to purchase items available in limited
quantities until a specific date to allow customers the first opportunity to purchase.

Compliance
Your employee discount is a benefit of working for Paper Source and is considered a privilege. When using
your discount, it is your responsibility to understand and adhere to the employee discount policy. If you are
uncertain of whether it is appropriate to use your employee discount in a specific situation, please discuss
with your manager before transacting the sale. All employee discount transactions must be processed by a
manager.

Abuse of the discount will result in corrective action, up to and including termination. We also reserve the
right to revoke or suspend the employee discount in situations we deem appropriate. The following list
provides some examples of what constitutes discount abuse. This is not exhaustive, and does not cover all
situations.
• Allowing anyone, other than your eligible dependents as defined in the above policy, to use
your employee discount.
• Transactions where an employee discount that are not rung by a manager.
• Ringing your own sale, or writing your own order, under any circumstances; including applying
your employee discount in such an instance.
• Applying your employee discount to a transaction for a friend, former employee, vendor, etc.

• Applying an employee discount for an unknown person claiming to be an employee whom POS
returns as invalid.
• Being knowingly and intentionally complicit in allowing another associate to violate the
employee discount policy; for example, ringing a transaction for another associate with their
discount and allowing a friend to pay.
• Applying greater, or additional discounts, in conjunction with the employee discount, on
purchases for which you know they are not eligible.
• Failing to comply with specific guidelines related to associate purchases; for example, making
purchases while on the clock; avoiding package checks as you exit; violating the no holds
policy; among others.
• Using your employee discount for merchandise and then re-selling the merchandise to others,
whether or not you will profit.
• Returning merchandise that was purchased with a discount and then not applying the discount
to the return, resulting in full credit.
