Function of Arts

Artwork 1:

The artwork was made by Neil Doloricon. The art

show about the COVID-19 demonstrates that a world

was under pandemic with some tough restrictions in

place like self-quarantine. The beauty of the artwork

is that it appeals to all of our senses, in that it affects

our visual, auditory, and tactile reliance. The artist

used black and white to represent their artwork. We

are all aware that a piece of artwork with a primarily

black and white palette means that there is something to lament or that there is a color

associated with sadness. With this, the art felt emotional because we are not ready during

pandemic and lot of people are dying and hospitals are out of space for those patients need to

stay. Along with that, it has its own moral values considering that this is related during the

pandemic and lot of people cannot go out. The values where people now are educated where

we can take seriously the hygiene and safety protocol to avoid the virus that is still spreading

in our environment. Furthermore, the shown artwork has a social function which means the

artist has something to convey a message to our society. With that, the production of art with

the goal of sending a message, it informs about what is going on in our word in terms of the

COVID-19, and certain cities are under quarantine.


Artwork 2:

The artwork was made by Leonid Afremov and

this art utilizes oil paint as its primary paint as a

tool for creation. Along with that, Afremov’s

unique technique of a palette knife that is why

the result of the painting was pleasing and

stunning. The beauty of artwork was nice as it has different color, but the warm color stands

out more. The warm color palette allows the art to seem warm and cozy when it is

comfortable for viewers to look at. Leonid Afremov is an artist that produced impressionistic

paintings that captured the color and vibrancy he saw on his international trips Furthermore;

the shown artwork has a personal function of art in that the artist expresses their personal

feelings and ideas through painting and that it can be perceived as a means of expression for

us. Moreover, the artist painted this artwork that reflects his world travels, capturing his

attention in this moment with the intent that he has decided to paint it as well using his

technique in painting. The art instills the idea that the viewers all need to appreciate the

moment while the cities sparkle, which will bring in more tourists and visitors. The artist

suggested we should appreciate what we have in our life in order to enjoy the moment make

the most of what is given.


Artwork 3:

This artwork was made by Eduardo Castrillo in 1993. This

is one of the most famous sculptures in the Philippines, the

People Power Monument. This sculpture was made to

show respect for the event of the People Power Revolution

that happened in 1986. The beauty of artwork emphasizes

variety and unity because of the arrangement of the

sculpture shown on the picture. Variety was shown

because of the people that was united during those times

and it can be happen anytime in these times where people

now were more vocal. The sculpture is set to uplifted and it is in pyramid form; it reflects the

power, achievements, authority, and privilege. Moreover, this symbol has meaning with

respect to the uniqueness and significance of a specific individual's or entity's role in the

social realm. Physical function of art was shown on this sculpture where it is an artwork

where we can touch it or serve a service with physical touch. This artwork was designed to let

the viewers know the history of it especially the people power revolution because that is how

we honor those who took part in the people power movement, often known as the successful

revolution, since it was a movement of peace. The forms, sizes, and other elements of the

artwork are harmoniously connected to one another, and it serves its function.
