RECIPROCATING COMPRESSORS
The BITZER success story began with reciprocating
compressors. On the basis of our 75 years of experience in
manufacturing refrigerant compressors, BITZER continues
to develop reciprocating compressor technology in line with
current customer and market demands. Each year hundreds
of thousands of BITZER reciprocating compressors leave
our factories and testify all round the world to the meaning
of reliability.

BITZER is one of the world‘s largest manufacturers of screw
compressors. The company sets technical and effi ciency
standards on the basis of decades of experience, numerous
design and manufacturing patents and state-of-the-art
production facilities. Evidence of this are high efficiency,
small space requirements and low wear, together with low
noise and vibration levels.

We have been producing pressure vessels such as con-
densers, liquid receivers, oil separators and oil coolers since
1954. Our competence in refrigeration technology together
with the newest manufacturing and testing methods ensure
outstanding quality that you can rely upon. BITZER pressure
vessels satisfy the European Vessel Equipment Directive
97/23/EC (PED) and the regulations of marine classification
societies recognized worldwide.

and high manufacturing quality standards. And so, for
example, we do not subcontract the manufacture of critical
components in our products to others.
// Housings, connecting rods, rotors and spirals are fabricated by
us with modern equipment to a precision of three thousandths of
a millimeter and are then inspected. However, BITZER quality
assurance starts far earlier in the process: with our suppliers.
We only use materials and components that meet our stringent

guidelines. From these perfect component parts, and through
optimal process organization and exact assembly, reliable BITZER
products result.
// For all our striving for precision and perfection, however, the
human element is also important to us. State-of-the-art manu-
facturing and testing methods pay off at BITZER because of the

It is our requirement that we check
our products more stringently than
any other refrigerant compressor or
pressure vessel manufacturer. We
test ever y single compressor with
extreme care and on the basis of up
to 70 parameters.
// Tests we perform on our compressors include a tightness test
using helium, the high-voltage insulation test and a final functional
check under part and full load. The result is quality that you can
rely on.
// Apart from our test criteria, at BITZER we also take climate and
environmental protection a step further than most. Damaged castings,
chips and grinding dust, for example, do not end up in the refuse
but are returned to the manufacturer. There they are melted down
and reused. Our varnishing facility is also one of the cleanest in the
business: we use water-based varnish containing only two or three
per cent solvent. Excess paint particles are caught in water and then
separated out by ultrafiltration. The water and paint elements are
then recovered and used again in the next varnishing process.
// BITZER‘s wide-ranging environmental commitment can also be
seen in the fi nished product. Enhanced effi ciency, reliability and
capacity control enable our customers to make lasting energy savings.
When it comes to the development of compressors for natural
refrigerants, we are already number one – and we will continue to
manufacture products that are better and more environmentally
friendly than any others.

is custom-made. Our customers appreciate the unique extent of
documentation that we also provide free of charge online. This
includes detailed technical information together with extensive
