Fuji Shibazakura
Festival The Fuji Shibazakura Festival (Fuji Shibazakura Matsuri) is
one of the best and most popular occasions in japan to
the see shibazakura (pink moss or phlox moss in English)
The festival is typically held from mid April through early
of June. The venue of the festival is located about three
kilometers south of Lake Motosuko in the Fuji Five Lakes
area, offering breathtaking views of vast fields of
shibazakura, with Mount Fuji in the backdrop on clear
days.
And Approximately 800,000 stalks of shibazakura of five
varieties are on display, producing delightful fields of
pink, white and purple colors in different hues.
Gion Matsuri Festival
The Gion Matsuri Festival the festival of Yasaka
Shrine and is one of the most famous and largest
festival in Japan. It dates back to 869 as a
religious ceremony appease the gods during the
outbreak of an epidemic, the festival has evolved
into a huge celebration of Kyoto culture. It’s also a
huge summer block party in which locals and
visitors gather to promenade.
The main events of the festival are the two
processions of traditional parade floats, held on
17th of July (Saki Matsuri Junko) and in 24th of
July (Ato Matsuri Junko)
Shuki Taisai Festival
Nikko Toshogu Shuki Taisai Grand Autumn Festival
is an annual festival celebrated on October 16 and
17 in Nikko city where about 1,000 men, all in full
samurain costumes. The procession is known as
"Hyakumono-Zoroe Sennin Gyoretsu" - The
Parade of 1,000 Samurai Warriors.
The procession is begins at Futurasan-jinja Shrine
in Sannai, Nikko and heads to Otabisho.The
procession of a Thousand Warriors is a
reenactment of his final journey to Toshogu Shrine,
a lavishly ornamented mausoleum constructed at
exorbitant cost by his grandson. The vast
mausoleum complex is itself a display of the sheer
might of a family that was the supreme arbiter of
power in Japan for almost three centuries.
Sounkyo Onsen Hyobaku Festival
The "Sounkyo Onsen Hyobaku Matsuri (Ice Fall Festival)"
held in January every year is known as one of the best
winter events in Hokkaido. About 30 ice sculptures of
various sizes line the 10,000 square meter site on the
banks of the Ishikari River, and the highlights include a
13-meter observation deck, a slide, and an ice fall
shrine. It takes about three months to create the ice
sculptures using the nature of the deep canyons at the
foot of the Daisetsu Mountains. The ice sculptures are
lit up with seven different colors of light, creating a
fantastic atmosphere. The fireworks beautifully
illuminate the frigid night sky, enveloping the entire
venue in a romantic mood.
