The Pilgrim’s Progress

Christian, the first pilgrim from his family, continued his journey even

when his family and neighbours tried to convince him to stay. He refused to stay

because his burdens are getting heavier and he saw what will happen to the City

of Destruction where he was living in. He then decided to go to the Celestial City

where his burdens would be gone and he would live a happy life.

He was sad and upset that his family refused to go with him to a better

city away from the City of Destruction. On his journey he was asked several times

by other pilgrims why he did not bring his family along on his pilgrimage. At

times Christian felt lonely but he would always look upon what is waiting for him

at Celestial City. He went through many places where he is tempted with choices

that will affect his life.

He was tempted to go to places that are easier to be access than the way

he needed to go. I realized that Christian reminds me of myself that sometimes I

am tempted to choose and go the easier way, but God has always reminded me

through my family or teachers. Christian also learned that he should not go the

easier way but to go through the only way he should.

Sometimes, like Christian, I would feel lonely when I go through the Valley

of the Shadow of Death in my life. I get scared and question my ability to go

through it. But I believe and know that God is always with me just like He was

with Christian. God loves all of His pilgrims and will never leave them alone.
In life I also learn about things through other people’s journey. I learn that

God can use the people around us to teach us how to face the troubles we will

have to face in real life or to teach us what not to do. With God nothing is

impossible, we are capable of the things that is happening or will happen to us

when we have our faith in God. We will also be able to defeat the giants in our

life, the people that will bring us down or discourage us, with the strength God

has given us.

This book has taught me about trusting in God even when no one is with

me. That God will always be by my side in all my struggles and problems in life.

He will help me through it all when I have my faith in Him. In the end everything

that happened will make sense and we will be able to see the bigger picture.
