A. Prokaryotic Cells
- lack membrane-bound nucleus and membrane-bound organelles
that are mostly found in eukaryotic cells. Structures found in
prokaryotic cells:
1. Capsule- a sticky outer layer that provides protection
2. Cell wall- a structure that confers rigidity and shape to the cell
3. Plasma membrane- a structure that serves as permeability
barrier
4. Plasmid- a genetic material
5. Nucleoid- a DNA containing region within the cytoplasm
6. Cytoplasm- the region where chromosomes, ribosomes, and
various inclusions are found
7. Ribosome- the site where protein is synthesized
8. Pilus/pili- a hair-like appendage that functions in adhesion
9. Flagellum- facilitates movement of bacteria
B. Eukaryotic Cells
- Have 3 main parts: cell membrane, cytoplasm, nucleus
Structures found in eukaryotic cells:
1. Cell membrane- Separates the cell from its external
environment.
2. Cytoplasm- the ground substance and the biggest part of the
cell where organelles and cellular inclusions are found.
Cytoplasmic Organelles:
a. Endoplasmic Reticulum
b. Ribosomes
c. Golgi apparatus
d. Mitochondrion
e. Lysosomes
f. Secretory granules
Cytoplasmic inclusions
a. Ribosomes
b. Centriole
c. Cytoskeleton
3. Nucleus- directs all the activities of the cell.
Structures found in plant cells:
1. Cell Wall
2. Vacuoles
3. Plastids
4. Chloroplasts, chromoplasts, leucoplasts
3.4. Application:
The students understand the difference between prokaryotes and
eukaryotes and how the complexity of cells determine the
organism. (e.g. Humans are multicellular eukaryotic organisms
therefore capable of complex processes of life)

4. Evaluation Individual recitation assessment 1. Activity 1: Comparing Cells: Prokaryotic vs. Eukaryotic Cell
Compare and contrast the structures of the prokaryotic cells with
that of the eukaryotic cells using photo of prepared slide.

Procedures
Part A: Prokaryotic Cells
1. The video you have watched gave you an idea of the prokaryotic
and eukaryotic cells. Choose one species from each type of cell.
(e.g. Prokaryote= bacteria, Eukaryote= amoeba)
2. Indicate the name of the chosen species. (e.g. Prokaryote-
Escherichia coli, Eukaryote- Alium cepa). Look for photos of your
chosen species under the microscope.
3. Focus on low power magnification, high power magnification,
and oil immersion magnification.
4. Paste the photos in the respective boxes in the activity
worksheet.
5. Label the organelles/ structures seen in the photo.

5. Assignment Instruction: Choose one organelle that captures your attention the Discussion Forum:
most and elaborate on the discussion board. As the activity showed the difference about the prokaryotes and
eukaryotes, what do it suggests about us humans? What are the
challenges you have encountered while doing it? Discuss your
thoughts here.

6. Reflection Like the cell and its organelles, we humans are not solitary as the Like the cell and its organelles, we humans are not solitary as the
quote says that "No man is an island". The connection and quote says that "No man is an island". The connection and
