VOCABULARY
DEFINE THE FOLLOWING TERMS IN YOUR OWN WORDS

Global Studies- is the study of globalization in all shapes counting social, political, financial,
social, and advanced.

Globalization- is the development of individuals, considerations, thoughts, innovation, and items


over nation's borders.

Global Citizen- somebody who sees himself or herself as being portion of a rising world
community and whose activities offer assistance characterize this community’s values and hones.
But it's more than fair a definition; it's a mentality.

Global Citizenship- is the thought that all individuals have civic duties to the world as a entirety,
instead of fair their neighborhood communities or countries.

Civic Responsibility- tasks offered upon citizens by their government to guarantee a adjust
between assurance and dependability.

I. Why Global Studies?


a. Why do we study global issues?

To investigate the world beyond your immediate environment. Recognize your


own and others’ perspectives. Develop an understanding of current world issues
and future opportunities. Communicate your ideas on global concerns and
solutions.

b. Why did you choose this course?


1) Because I really like learning things about different countries,
culture, issues…

II. What is Global Citizenship?


a. What communities are you a part of?
1) My country, my city, my school…
b. Are you willing to think beyond your culture? Why do you think this
is important?
1) Yes, I think it’s important because there’s more people in the
world and for example if you want to travel you must know
that the country you are visiting have differences in its
culture so its something you must be aware of.
c. What does the quote by Ban Ki-moon mean to you?
1) It’s confusing because I think we don’t have to focus that
much on the future and be more aware of the present.
Because nobody guarantees us that there’s going to be a
tomorrow. We need to take ownership and leadership today
not tomorrow.
d. Video “What is World Citizenship?”- What can we do to foster a
world of peace?
1) human rights, respect, justice and cultural diversity are some
of the examples of things we can do to seat peace.
