I have completed the GCE Ordinary Level Examination in 2016, and completed my GCE

Stream back in 2022. I have no visible study gaps as I have engaged in both professional and
academic qualifications since my completion of Secondary Education.

5. Study Motives – Why choose this Program?

I have always wanted to become an IT Professional and it has been my childhood passion.
Therefore, I have been looking into academic opportunities where I can fulfill my goal to
become an IT Professional in Sri Lanka. Since I have been completing my Secondary
Education in Math Stream and Commerce Stream which includes both subjects in
Information Technology and Business Analysis , I have decided to take my academic path

into another dimension by having a Bachelor credential offered by a World recognized
University. In addition to this, as I have mentioned above, my previous studies of Secondary
Education reflect the undergraduate studies which I have chosen to follow at the Federation
University, Australia. I believe that the Bachelor of Information Technology (Business
Information Systems) which is a 3 year program with 360 credit points will pave the
foundation to my higher expectations in my career and further academic goals. I have done
quite a good research on the suitable study destinations and universities to pursue an
undergraduate credential, where I have shortlisted many universities in Australia too.
However, the unique, thus sophisticated course structure of the program that I have selected
in the Federation University have given me the confidence to apply and the determination to
secure a seat in this program. The six semesters which spread over the 3 years will enhance
my current knowledge and the passion I always had within me on IT Systems will elevate me
into the pinnacle of my future goals. Moreover, I am acknowledged by going thoroughly on
the course structure of this program that this program is focused on major areas which is not
only Information Technology but also the Business Analysis related to the IT Systems. After
completing this Bachelor program, I believe that I will be recognized as a highly academic
individual possessing an internationally recognized technological qualification in my home
country, Sri Lanka. The course modules which the Federation University, Bachelor of
Information Technology (Business Information Systems) possess such as, IT Problem
Solving, Emerging Information Systems, Professionalism and Entrepreneurship can be
recognized as unique modules which a Sri Lankan Bachelor program in IT will not merely
possess. As my intention is to become a Business Analyst related to the field of IT, I am
strongly convinced that this Bachelor program can take me into the place where I am
dreaming of. Therefore I highly believe that spending money to pursue this Bachelor program
at the Federation University will be a lifetime investment for me and my country.

6. Why don’t you want to study in your own country?

There is no doubt that Sri Lanka has a quality education system in the south Asian Region.
However, it is unfortunate to say that when it comes to Information Technology and Systems,
there are a handful of undergraduate programs which provide relevant studies in Sri Lanka.
Prior to applying as an international student in Australia, I have considered all the possible
options in Sri Lanka, as I have always felt comfortable to live in. Sad to say that even the
recognized institutes which offer the similar educational credential have less exposure to the
relevant academic components when compared to the program structure in Bachelor of

Information Technology (Business Information Systems) offered by the Federation
University, Australia. In addition, most of the Sri Lankan undergraduate program syllabus is
either outdated or unable to compete with the contemporary world. Therefore, I am
convinced that the Bachelor program offered in the Federation University can elevate my
qualifications as an individual both academically and professionally in future. The
multicultural exposure which I will be getting as an International student in the Federation
University will be beneficial for me to co-op up with the contemporary sophisticated world of
Information Technology. The modules, which are included in the Program, will enhance the
knowledge and exposure of the field of IT than gaining a bachelor degree in Sri Lanka.

7. Study Motives – Why choose Federation University? Research about your Education
provider

I have been doing my own mini research, prior to applying for the Federation University,
comparing other universities and bachelor programs. After considering the Quality Education
and The recognition worldwide which the Federation University possesses, I have finally
decided to apply for the Bachelor of Information Technology (Business Information Systems)
program for the coming intake. As per my research, the Federation University is a Public
university located in Ballarat, Victoria, Australia. Federation University Australia is ranked
#1288 in Best Global Universities. In addition to this Federation University has secured the
rank of 250 as the youngest universities in the world by the Times Higher Education. The
future focused teaching approach, which is unique to the Federation University, has
mesmerized students of the institute. I have considered other universities such as the Charles
Darwin University, Flinders University etc where ultimately I have decided to make my
dream come true with the Federation University.

8. Study Motives – Why choose Australia?

As I have mentioned above on my own research finding study destinations, I have compared
and contrasted not only the universities but also countries at first. I have considered the USA,
Canada, The United Kingdom, Finland etc. the major reason for not selecting countries such
as Sweden and Finland is the language barrier, which is likely to happen as they have their on
native languages. Since my sole intention is to get academically sophisticated, my only
concern is to save my time and to get the optimum benefit from the years which I am going to

spend abroad as an international student. I personally hesitate to grab an unwanted challenge
which is a foreign language. Therefore, I vowed to myself I will only study in an English
speaking country as I have proved that I am competent enough to communicate and handle
the English language successfully. Among all the reasons mentioned above, the most vital
reason that I have been selecting Australia to gain my bachelor's qualification is the quality
and the world recognition which the Australian Education system possesses. Australia is a
destination rich with top universities, incredible civil culture, and diverse natural resources
where I believe that I will have the privilege to be a part of that enriched culture even once in
my life. Thirdly, the student friendly nature, which Australia has further motivated me to
choose it as my study destination.

9. Education Outcome: What are your future plans?

Information Technology has become the basic drive of the economy in the contemporary
world. Without the globalized facilities provided by Information Technology and its systems,
the world will become more primitive than people can ever imagine. I believe that I am
fortunate enough to select a path where the demand will never fade away. As I have
mentioned several times in this statement, my only intention is to acquire quality education
which possesses a world recognized qualification. After completing my Bachelor Program at
Federation University Australia, I will return to my home country where I have always been
comfortable to work and live in. For an Australian Bachelor of Information Technology
holder, there will be enormous opportunities in Sri Lanka,as Sri Lankan IT Industry seeks
highly qualified individuals to perform to the optimum in their organizations. My only
intention is to join one of the Leading IT Service providers in Colombo Sri Lanka such as the
London Stock Exchange Group(LSEG), Virtusa Corporation, Millennium IT, Tetran, WSO2
etc as a Business Analyst. As the Bachelor of Information Technology (Business Information
Systems) at Federation University program structure has all the advanced components to
mold up an IT Professional, I believe that no IT Company in Sri Lanka will reject my
application. The average annual salary expected by a contemporary IT related Business
Analyst is $100000 in Colombo. Other than seeking and establishing my career in Sri Lanka,
I would like to continue my studies further until I become a highly professional individual in
the Sri Lankan IT Industry.

Talking about my ties to my home country prominently is my family. As I am the older child
of my parents, it is my responsibility to take care of my younger brother and support his

future plans in every possible way. Other than taking care of my parents and my family
properties, as every other human being, I would like to have my own family in Sri Lanka.
When considering in a more ethical way, serving my home country where I have gained free
education, every living facility for all these years, I consider myself that it is my moral duty
to serve my country with my elevated skills and intellect.

10. Living arrangements in Australia

I do not have any relatives residing in Australia.

Therefore upon my visa grant, I would like to arrange my own living arrangements either on
campus or off campus accommodation such as homestay programs, hostels, or rental
properties. I am aware of every law and regulation which has been declared by the Australian
government for immigrants and international students. I am fully acknowledged on the
Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) is a post-study work stream that lets international
students who have recently graduated with a degree from an Australian institution to live,
work, and study in Australia, usually form between two and four years and in addition to this
I am fully aware of working hours, possible working opportunities and the do's and don'ts in
Australia. I have been acknowledged that In January this year the government announced that
all international students in Australia would be able to work more than 20 hours a week (40
hours a fortnight).
