(TALUA TEA)

The talua or egg tea is a sweet drink typical of West Sumatra that can be found in lapau,
traditional Minangkabau stalls to Padang restaurants. This drink is in the form of tea plus sugar
and beaten eggs and a little lime. The eggs used are generally free-range chicken eggs. Talua tea
is usually consumed an increase work stamina.

The ingredients for making talua tea drink are quite easy. The main ingredients for
making talua tea are egg yolks and tea. The eggs used are usually free-range chicken eggs,
although they can also be replaced with duck eggs. The whites and yolks are separated, and only
the yolks are taken. Then, provide enough powdered tea and hot or freshly boiled water about
250 milliliters. next, one or half lime. Finally, about two or three tablespoons of sugar can also be
added according to taste.

How to make talua tea is quite easy. First of all, beaten duck eggs or free-range chicken
eggs, mixed with a little milk and sugar, until foamy. After that, brew it with hot tea water. A
little lime juice can be added to disguise the fishy smell of the eggs.

If left for a while after brewing with hot tea water, the talua tea will show layers. The top
layer is froth, the middle layer is white, and the base layer is brown.
Talua tea drink has the first benefits, namely:

a. can add power. For working people, talua tea is very suitable because this drink does not
contain preservatives.
b. Second, the benefits of this drink are to maintain eye health. In talua tea, there are
carotenoids that are useful for maintaining eye health, and can even reduce the risk of
cataract disease
c. The next benefit is to increase stamina and is useful as a food substitute, because talua tea
already contains calories that are useful for the body.
d. The last benefit, namely talua tea, can meet the body's vitamin needs. This is because the
egg yolks contained in talua tea contain vitamins A, D, E, and K
