in love with this city.
It had been a hell of a ride. Who could ever say
that their cat had taken them halfway across the
world? To one of the most exotic, beautiful, and
futuristic cities, where the love of cats was part of
their everyday culture, from Hello Kitty to cat cafes
and the Tokyo TV mascot, whom I met during one
press interview at the Sony offices.
Sony and Comstock were the promoters of the

I and offered to pay for a first-class flight with Bob
in tow to Japan, a place I’d only ever dreamt of
visiting.
Bob took it all in his stride so effortlessly despite
the sweltering heat. I was worried about Bob in
this suffocating humidity but he looked so relaxed,
especially when he was in the air conditioned
hotel room watching the birds flying around the
park.
It was during those last few days that while I
was sitting in the bar at the Ritz Carlton, on the
48th floor drinking Sakee, that I spotted Edgar

During the two days remaining, I was out with
my fans who had been instrumental in Bob and
myself being in the land of the rising sun by
tirelessly petitioning to get me to Japan in the first
place. They took me around all the major tourist
attractions:Akihabara, Shinjuku, Roppongi,and
Shibuya junction. We’d eaten so many bits of Kobe
beef, so many bits of sashimi. Drank so much
rice wine and Suntory whiskey. Meanwhile Bob
lounged in his hotel room being fussed upon by
the chamber maids as they made the bed, refilled
the minibar, and emptied his Royal Meowness litter
tray, which I expect was a first for the Ritz Carlton. I
remember coming back to find two lovely, friendly
members of staff cleaning our room while taking
selfies with Bob on the windowsill. I took a picture
of Bob on said windowsill, which I think is one of the
most beautiful pictures ever in the world, even if I
did take it myself.
As the final night came to a close, I ruffled Bob
on the head. I told him how much I loved him and
how proud I was of him for making all this possible
and for teaching so many people around the world
the meaning of a second chance.
I had to wake up at 4am to put him back in
his flight crate so that he could be transported
to the airport, where he could safely go through
procedures to be on the same flight that I was due
to board in 12 hours. The air hostesses assured me
again on the way home that he was fine below,
warm and comfy with not a care in the world.
When we landed at Heathrow, I had to wait six
hours before he cleared quarantine and he was
given back to me. I could’ve just gone home and

O Before decorating the tree,

O When placing lights on the

the branches to limit dangling

extraordinary life, and often done something to benefit the rest
of society. Dr Samuel Johnson is the perfect example of that.
One of the most influential writers of the 18th century, Johnson
was lauded for his works as a poet, essayist, and literary critic. His
most famous achievement though was creating ‘A Dictionary of the
English Language’ which appeared in 1755, after nine years of work,
and had a profound effect on the English language. It was the leading
dictionary until the creation of the Oxford English Dictionary 150 years
