Representation Meaning
[square brackets] A key to be pressed on a PC keyboard, for example [F11].
Keys to be pressed simultaneously are concatenated with a “+”
sign, for example [CTRL]+[ALT]+[DEL].
Keys to be pressed one after another are concatenated with
spaces, for example [ESC] [SPACE] [M].
> The greater than symbol “>” is used to concatenate a series of
GUI items in order to depict a GUI path. This is an abridged pre-
sentation of a procedure to be carried out in order to perform an
action or display a window or dialog box.
Examples:
A simple menu path: File > Save as ...
A more complex GUI path:
SURPASS TransNet window > Tools menu >
3R-Matrix Report command > 3R-Matrix Report dialog box
x For convenience, card names are sometimes listed with a lower
(in card names) case x variable, in order to concisely represent multiple cards.
Example:
I01T40G-x (is to be interpreted as I01T40G-1 and I01T40G-2)
Screenshots of the graphical user interface are examples only to illustrate principles.
This especially applies to a software version number visible in a screenshot.

IDU HW Install The installation and grounding of FPH800
3.1 Overview
FPH800 is a standard sub-rack compatible with standard both 19-inch rack and ETSI
N3 rack.
Before installing FPH800, note the following:
There are three installation and grounding methods for different FPH800 site configura-
tions.
• Single-IDU mode
To install single IDU into a 19-inch or a ETSI N3 rack. The installation flow chart is
shown.

Prerequisites
Place the device close to its final installation location.
Steps
1 Use a Torx T10 screwdriver and 6 screws to attach the 19” (or ETSI N3) L-shaped
brackets to both sides of the IDU, as is shown.
2 Use a Philips Screwdriver to unscrew the M4 grounding screw on the lateral side of
the IDU.
3 Use a Philips Screwdriver to fix one end of the grounding patch cord to the IDU, as
is shown below.

GROUNDING BAR
7 Use the multimeter to check the grounding resistance between FPH800 and the
rack. The telecommunication industry standard is 5 ohm or less. Otherwise, please
check the connection of the grounding cable, fix it and check the grounding resis-
tance again.
g For areas where thunder and lightning occur often, the grounding resistance is pre-
ferred to be less than 2 ohm.
2 Use a Philips Screwdriver to unscrew the M4 grounding screw on the lateral side of
each IDU, so that the width of the IDU will fit the shroud. Put the 2 screws into the
PE bag.

f Port 3 and port 4 on FPH800 mainbord or power injector card supports P+E solution.
The P+E solution is not compatible with Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) defined by IEEE
802.3af and 802.3at since P+E intends to provide higher power than that provided by
the two standards. Thus, it is harmful to connect FPH800 P+E interfaces to other
devices than NSN's FlexiPacket ODU's.
1 Use the crimping tool to crimp the cat-5e cable with the RJ45 jacks (Item Code:
T555ETRJ.08, P/N: 5463110).
The GE cable is in AWG 23 shielded cat-5e category for indoor use. Both cable
sides must be crimped with two shielded RJ45 jacks. Connection must be made in
T568A straightthrough mode, according to TIA/EIA-568-A.

This device uses lasers in its fiber optic ports. To ensure user safety, comply with the
following precaution:
f WARNING:The fiber optic lasers used in the device meet the regulatory requirements
for casual exposure to the eye. As with any source of bright light, however, Nokia
Siemens Networks recommends not to look into the laser light source.

• Properly terminate all optical fiber jumper cable outputs before connecting the
inputs.
• When using patch cords, make sure that the each ferrule is covered by its protective
cap.
• Disconnect the input connector of the optical fiber jumper cable before disconnect-
ing the output connector. Ensure that the optical fiber jumper cable output is safely
terminated before reconnecting the input.
• Handle fibers with care. Glass fiber is subject to breakage if mishandled. Injury or
permanent equipment damage can result from using broken fiber.
• Do not directly view the laser component of the modules from the output source, the
output connector, or an unterminated fiber. The laser radiation can seriously
damage your eyesight.
• Do not directly view the laser component of this product using an optical instrument
without proper protective eye wear, filtering, or attenuation.
• Avoid physical exposure to the laser beam.
• Avoid direct exposure to fiber ends or optical connector ends that are in the laser's
signal path.
• Place all optical fiber cuttings in a suitable container.
• Handle optical fibers with care. Keep them in a safe and secure location during
installation.
• Protect unconnected optical fiber connectors with dust caps.
• Follow the manufacturer's instructions when using an optical test set. Incorrect cal-
ibration or control settings could result in hazardous levels of radiation.
The following steps aplly to cabling the opitcal SFP GE interfaces on the mainboard or
the SFP interfaces on 4-port SFP card in pluggable slot.

About FPH800 accessories IDU HW Install
6.1 Overview
The following accessories for FPH800 Rel.2.5 is introduced in this chapter:
• Pluggable card
– 16-port E1/T1 Multi-Service card
– 4-port GE RJ-45 card
– 4-port GE SFP card
– 2-port Power Injector card
– 2-port FlexBus card
– 2-port STM-1/4 MSC card
• Patch panel
– Patch panel BNC (1 U)
– Patch panel CC4 (0.5 U)
– Patch panel RJ45 (0.5 U)
• Dual-IDU protection panel (1 U)
• Dual-IDU power injector (1 U)
g Pluggable cards and Patch panels are optional accessories, which must be ordered
separately. For detailed information, refer to IDU Accessories Product Description.
The pluggable cards are supposed to be inserted and mounted in slot1 and/or slot 2 on
the front panel of the IDU. Despite the different card types, the installation is the same
due to their identical mechanical structure.
All the panels are standard sub-racks compatible with standard both 19-inch rack and
ETSI N3 rack. The installation and grounding falls into 3 methods due to different
mechanical structure of the panel:
• Installing patch panel BNC
• Installing patch panel RJ45 and patch panel CC4
• Installing and grounding Dual-IDU protection panel
And in later sections of this chapter, the cabling of the accessories is introduced.
