MATERNAL, NEWBORN, CHILD AND ADOLESCENT HEALTH AND
NUTRITION
GROUP ASSIGNMENT
Global pronouncements regarding the need to ensure survival of mothers, newborns, children
and adolescents have been made over the past decades. The goals for these pronouncements
are to ensure that these key populations survive preventable adverse events accordingly.
Survival for these key populations (mothers, newborns, children, adolescents) is an indication
of a well-functioning health institutional and public health care delivery system for a country.
Using the reading materials provided and more from your literature search answer the
following questions.

NB: Remember to focus on the key population assigned to your group:

 What key indicators will you use to establish gaps in health service delivery?
 What three key interventions would you use to improve health service delivery based
on the poor performing indicators that you may have identified?
 For the planned interventions, how you will track progress towards achieving the
related Sustainable Development Goals, particularly for Zambia?
 Explain some of the challenges you might face during the planning and
implementation phases, giving possible steps to resolve them.
