Definition of Line symmetry

Line symmetry occurs when figure is its own image under reflection in a line. Such a line is called an
axis of symmetry.

Example:

Draw a line of symmetry if possible. You have to count the most number of line symmetries based
on your evaluation.

1 Line (horizontal)of 1 Line (vertical) of 3 Lines of Symmetry

Symmetry Symmetry 4 Lines of Symmetry
(1 Horizontal Symmetry +
2 Diagonal Symmetry) (1 Horizontal Symmetry +
1 Vertical Symmetry +
2 Diagonal Symmetry)

2 Lines of Symmetry
5 Lines of Symmetry
(1 Horizontal Symmetry + 2 Lines of Symmetry
(1 Horizontal Symmetry + 4 1 Vertical Symmetry)
Diagonal Symmetry) (1 Horizontal Symmetry + 2 Lines of
1 Vertical Symmetry) Symmetry

5 Lines of Symmetry
1 Line (vertical)of 5 Lines of Symmetry
Symmetry (1 Vertical Symmetry + (1 Vertical Symmetry +
4 Diagonal Symmetry) 1 Horizontal Symmetry +
2 Diagonal Symmetry)
