quality English-taught programmes, supported
by state-of-the-art research. Being a student at
VUB means learning in an open atmosphere of

education on student-friendly campuses in the
cosmopolitan city of Brussels. At VUB, lecturers
and assistants are available and approachable
to students. Faculty members are on hand to

VUB is a dynamic and modern university with

almost two centuries of history. We welcome
more than 20.000 students, 23% of which are
international students from more than 148
different countries.

The root of our academic success

Vrije Universiteit Brussel was founded on the
principle of ‘free inquiry’ as formulated by the
French mathematician and philosopher of science
Henri Poincaré (1854-1912):

“Thinking must never submit itself, neither to a

dogma, nor to a party, nor to a passion, nor to an
interest, nor to a preconceived idea, nor to anything
whatsoever, except to the facts themselves, because
for it to submit to anything else would be the end of
its existence.”

Personal development, open-mindedness, a

positive and critical attitude and a sense of
responsibility are values that characterise
everyone at our university: from professors and
researchers to students and staff members. It lies
at the root of our academic success.

“Students of the MSc in
Management have the most
interesting backgrounds, from
engineering, to pharmacy,
archaeology, sociology…
anything you can imagine! Not to
mention more than 50 nationalities
that enrich the experience in the
classroom enormously. The fact that
the programme is designed for non-
financial professionals only improves the
learning methods, not leaving aside the
financial aspects of management. Being
a psychology professional myself, I found
this programme crucial to seeing the
bigger picture in the organisation and its
context.”

“If you take up this master, be ready

to study hard, but also prepare to
pick some very smart and interesting
brains. Professors encourage students
to question what is being taught and
they appreciate being challenged
intellectually; you will only get out from
class what you bring into it.”
