bacterial and UV protective property, which makes it
a unique eco-friendly material in 21st century.
PROPERTIES:-
 Bamboo is a unique building material that
is strong in both Rigidity and Density.
 Bamboo is highly versatile Resource and
widely available and is being used as an Engineering
material for the construction of the houses and the
other building.
 Smooth and Luxurious to touch.
 Strong and Durable.
 Anti-Static.
 Enormous Elasticity makes it a very useful building
material in Areas with very high risks of Earthquakes.

ADVANTAGES:-
 Bamboo has high tensile strength as compared to
Steel because of its fibres runs axially.
 Bamboo has high fire resistance and it can
withstand up to 4000degree Celsius.
 Bamboo is economical and easy to use as
compared to another type of construction material.
 Bamboo is easier for transportation and
construction.
 Bamboo is lightweight material as compared to
other construction material.
 Bamboo is an environment friendly construction
material and does not cause pollution.
 Bamboo is more durable as compared to other
construction materials.

DISADVANTAGES:-
 If the bamboo is not sufficiently treated it may
undergo the fungus attack or attacks caused by
insects.
 There may be a problem of swelling and shrinkage
of bamboo in the concrete.
 Bamboo may absorb water when it’s not
maintained properly during the construction.

APPLICATIONS:-

 Bamboo is been used by the Architects and

Builders for the construction of Building as
building Material.
 Wood also takes a long time to regrow and is ready
to use as construction materials but Meanwhile,
Bamboo can be harvested in a short time, which is
between 3-5 years.
 When planting, bamboo also releases oxygen into
the air, the ability that cannot be performed by
industrial materials like steel, plastic and concrete.
 Bamboo has been widely known as sustainable
building materials and is being used in architectural
and construction works.
 In bamboo architecture, bamboo, as the main
architectural structure, plays the role of load
holding of buildings.
 The integration of bamboo with soil, concrete, and
glue, etc, can help increase the structural strength.
