Degree (EMJMD) scholarship cover?

Published on:06-09-2019 9:57 AMFAQ ID:10113
The EMJMD scholarship covers:
 the participation costs, including tuition fees and mandatory insurance
coverage. Most of the time, the EMJMD directly deducts the participation costs
from the scholarship.
 a contribution to travel costs:
o 1000 €/year for a scholarship holder residing in a Programme country, or

o 2000 €/year for a scholarship holder residing in a Partner country less

than 4000 km from the EMJMD coordinating institution, or
o 3000 €/year for a scholarship holder residing in a Partner country 4000
km or more from the EMJMD coordinating institution.
 a contribution to settling-in costs: 1000 €, for scholarship holders residing in a
Partner country only.
 a monthly living allowance of 1000 €/month for all scholarship holders.
However:
o scholarship holders studying in their country of residence will not receive
the subsistence allowance during that period;
o a scholarship holder from a Partner country cannot receive the
subsistence allowance for more than 3 months when studying in any
Partner country.

The application platform is open between October 15, 2019 and January 31st,
2020.
Admission requirements
To be admitted to the ERASMUS Mundus Master’s Programme in Agricultural, Food and
Environmental Policy Analysis candidates need to have:

 A Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent academic degree of minimum three years of

undergraduate study corresponding to 180 ECTS credits with a grade of at least an
overall average “B” or equivalent grade. Students in their final year of their Bachelor’s
degree may be provisionally admitted in the AFEPA Master’s programme on the
condition that their Bachelor’s degree is awarded prior to enrollment in the programme.
 A minimum of 24 ECTS credits in economics – including microeconomics,
management, mathematics, and statistics. An additional introduction to agricultural,
environmental or food sciences is recommended. Please make sure that your official
bachelor’s transcript either shows credit points according to the ECTS credit point
system or else attach a diploma supplement that explains the credit point system of
your university.
 Letter of Motivation (no more than 300 words)
 Reference Letters:
Applicants will be asked to provide two referees in their application form and those two
references will then be contacted in order to upload a reference letter for an applicant
directly onto the platform. Applicants must therefore make their potential referees aware
about the fact that they will be contacted directly by the AFEPA application platform.
 English proficiency test results (not older than two years):
 Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): 90 on the Internet-based Test (IBT), with a
minimum of 20 on the written part.
 International English Language Testing System (IELTS): an overall band IELTS score of at
least 6.5, and no section below 5.5.
 A test deemed equivalent by the AFEPA Management Board (if you want to submit test
results other than from the TOEFL or IELTS tests please obtain our confirmation of that
particular test prior to sending your application package).
 Note: Applicants from English speaking countries must provide an official letter from
their university from which they graduated attesting that English is the media of
instruction. It is upon the consortium’s decision whether an English Test as described
above must be submitted additionally.

What is a letter of motivation?

A Letter of Motivation (no more than 300 words) is a letter which accompanies your
application and acts as a means of introducing yourself to the programme coordinator and the
admissions committee. The letter should contain information about why you think that you
should be given a place in the AFEPA programme. You should detail your skills and explain
the reasons why you are a good fit for the programme. The letter should also serve to convince
the reader that you are sufficiently interested in the programme to merit further attention and a
very careful screening of your complete application package.
This element allows you to talk directly to the AFEPA admission committee and to make
yourself stand out from among several similarly qualified candidates for the programme.

In which format should the documents/certificates that

I am submitting be?
You should submit a scanned copy of your university degrees, including a translation into
English for those certificates/documents which are not in English. Please note that only pdf files
can be uploaded.

What is a school-leaving certificate?

It is a university entrance qualification, a certificate awarded from the high school
attended. It is compulsory to submit this document.

Application and admission

Students interested in applying to the programme can do so on this webpage. Before doing so,
please read the following information carefully:

 Admission requirements: Read the admission requirements carefully! The AFEPA

consortium will apply the criteria very meticulously. If you have any questions please
contact the AFEPA coordination office at info@afepa.eu.
 Application deadlines: Different deadlines exist for scholarship and non-scholarship
applicants. For the latter group the deadlines also vary based on the geographic origin.
 Application platform: Applicants will have to create a login and password, which then
has to be confirmed via email, before being able to register to the platform. Applicants
will have to complete an online application and then upload the required documents.
Only when 100 percent of your application has been filled in/completed, will we
consider it as submitted.
Please note that at this point no paper version of any documents need to be submitted.
All documents that applicants upload onto the platform, however, will have to be either
