ACTIVITY IN CHAPTER 6 : WATERBORNE DISEASE

Instructions: In order to answer your activity, you must watch the video
first about "Waterborne Disease" that has been posted in your main
class.
Give at least three (3) common waterborne diseases and explain
on how to prevent them.

1. AMOEBIASIS - The human digestive system frequently

becomes infected with amoebiasis. Climate has less of an impact on
amoebiasis than do poor hygienic conditions and low socioeconomic
status. The parasite Entamoeba histolytica is responsible for amoebiasis.
In the genus Entamoeba, a number of protozoan species inhabit
humans, though not all of them are linked to the illness. The clinical
spectrum includes extra-intestinal amoebiasis, fulminant colitis, and
diarrhea as well as asymptomatic infection, dysentery, and diarrhea with
or without symptoms. Simple hygiene practices can lower the risk of
contracting amoebiasis and spreading the infection to others in order to
avoid this.

It's resulting from a microscopic parasite known as Giardia lamblia.
Giardiasis spreads thru touch with inflamed people. And you could get
giardiasis via way of means of ingesting infected meals or consuming
infected water. Symptoms of giardiasis usually display up to one or
weeks after exposure. Common signs and symptoms encompass fatigue,
diarrhea or greasy stools, vomiting, and headaches. You cannot save
your giardiasis, however, you could decrease your chance of having it
via way of means of very well washing your hands, specifically in case
you paint in locations in which germs unfold easily, which include
daycare centers.
3. Cyclosporiasis - Cyclospora cayetanensis is a single-celled parasite
too small to be seen without a microscope. Cyclospora is spread by
ingesting food or water contaminated with faeces. Cyclospora takes
some time (usually at least 1-2 weeks) to pass through faeces and infect
another person. Things you could do to keep away from getting
cyclosporiasis are washed your arms with cleaning soap and water
before, during, and after meal prep., do not go away peeled, cooked, or
reduce result and greens out of the fridge for greater than hours, and
additionally do not drink untreated water. Drink bottled water and use it
for meal prep if you are now no longer positive that the water is treated.
