ACTIVITY DESIGN
2022 Nutrition Radio Infomercial Making Contest

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The proposal is Nutrition Radio Infomercial Making Contest of the National Nutrition
Council Region 02. It is a competition open to all students of Elementary and Secondary
Institutions. Only one entry per school is allowed to be submitted.

This year’s Nutrition Radio Infomercial Making competition will highlight

information about First 1000 days, balanced diet, and other nutrition related information.

RATIONALE:

Radio plays vital part in information dissemination in our society. Radio broadcasts
provide real-time information, and some that broadcast 24 hours a day, can provide the most
recent updates to listeners. Radio can reach across borders and can become a valuable source
of information where reliable news and information is scarce.

Radio has proved its worth in times of emergency such as when access to the mobile
network is down as a result of an overload or phone lines are cut. Even when there is no
electricity, most radio sets can be battery operated or have the ability to be handcranked.

As a result, Radio has been widely used all over the country wherein people tend to
depend on their sources of information. This paved ways to communicator strategists to
continue the use of radio to deliver information to its target audience.

Despite the digital media approach many communication strategists still rely with the
use of radio as communication and advocacy medium to deliver information to far-flung
areas specially to barangays who are still have low and no access to the internet. Hence,
government agencies continue to develop yearly of radio infomercials to be aired and
distributed to the media partners.

This year the National Nutrition Council Region 02 in partnership with the
Department of Education in lieu of the celebration of National Children’s Month will tap the
artistic and talented elementary and secondary students to develop nutrition and nutrition
related plugs. This will also widen the knowledge of these students about the NNC, its
programs and other nutrition and nutrition related information.

 Showcase the artistic inclinations of nutrition stakeholders specially the school children
