Peace Issues and Human Rights

1. What are the 6 issues of Peace that have been presented in the lecture?

The six issues presented on the said lecture was Militarization in regards to the
dismantling the culture of war, Structural Violence wherein we deal with equality and failed
justice system of the country, Human Rights, Personal Peace, Environmental Care for the earth
and the Cultural Solidarity that tackles about the experiences of Indigenous People throughout
the centuries.

2. Which of the 30 Universal Declaration of Human Rights do you like the most and why?

The article that catched my attention the most was Article 30: Rights for having a
freedom of expression and opinion. We live in a conservative country wherein we must listen
and side with our elders' thoughts on everything and during the election period, My presidential
bet was different from theirs. The experience that i went through during that election period was
not liberal at all, in short it was draining since they were trying to change my perspective and I
didn’t budge since I know my rights and I know how to critique the most deserving presidential
candidate. My takeaway from that experience was never side with misinformation and always
look out for legitimate sources in order to sort the right and wrong, and never let anyone change
your thought and opinion because you know yourself more than others.

3. How would you like to exercise your rights to contribute to the Peace Building?
As a college student, I will exercise my rights in spreading right information and prevent
the distortion of history from all the misinformation that has been escalating throughout
mainstream media. It concerns me that not everyone knows how to access the educational or
legitimate sites about the current news in our country because the majority believes in the
information from known sites such as facebook, youtube etc. that sometimes distorts the truth
and it worries me that people are changing their perspectives all because of misinformation. I
know I can contribute my rights to peace building by stating true and well-informed articles and
will handle arguments with facts and evidence.
