Though initially saying the character was based on three boys, Twain later stated he himself was the inspiration for Tom Sawyer. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is a sequel to Tom Sawyer, featuring Huck Finn, a character from the first novel who is the son of the town drunkard.
