God Will Rescue You

Talk 1:
Talk 3: God Is Always with Me God Is Committed to Your
Flourishing
I. AT FIRST GLANCE:
Talk 2:
Embrace Who You Are
Welcome back to our study of Exodus.
Talk 3:
In Talk 1, we read how God rescued baby Moses God Is Always with Me
from a watery death. In Talk 2, Moses struggled
with an identity crisis. Today, in Talk 3, we’ll read
how God revealed Himself to Moses in a very
special way.

The key message of the talk is God Is Always

with Me.

II. REVIEW THE KEY BIBLE VERSES:

“There the angel of the LORD appeared to him

in a blazing fire from the middle of a bush.
Moses stared in amazement. Though the bush
was engulfed in flames, it didn’t burn up. 3 ‘This
is amazing,’ Moses said to himself. ‘Why isn’t that
bush burning up? I must go see it.’” (3:2-3, em-
phasis mine).
“When the LORD saw Moses coming to take a Notes:
closer look, God called to him from the middle
of the bush, ‘Moses! Moses!’ ‘Here I am!’ Moses
replied. (3:4)
‘Do not come any closer,’ the LORD warned.
‘Take off your sandals, for you are standing on
holy ground. 6 I am the God of your father—the
God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God
of Jacob.’ When Moses heard this, he covered his
face because he was afraid to look at God. (3:4-
6)
“You are to distinguish between the holy and
the common, and between the unclean and the

clean.” (Leviticus 10:10 NRSVCE).
“I am the God of your father—the God of Abra-
ham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.”
(3:6a)
“Now go, for I am sending you to Pharaoh. You
must lead my people Israel out of Egypt.’” (3:10)
“Who am I to appear before Pharaoh? Who am I
to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt?” (3:11)
“I will be with you” (3:12)
“If I go to the people of Israel and tell them,
‘The God of your ancestors has sent me to you,’
they will ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what
should I tell them?’” (3:13)
“God replied to Moses, ‘I AM WHO I AM. Say
this to the people of Israel: I AM has sent me to
you.’ 15 God also said to Moses, ‘Say this to the
people of Israel: Yahweh, the God of your an-
cestors—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac,
and the God of Jacob—has sent me to you. This
is my eternal name, my name to remember for
all generations.’” (3:14-15)
“God is love.” (1 Jn 4:8)
“I will be with you.” (3:12)
“And be sure of this: I am with you always, even
to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:20b)

III. ASK FOR REACTIONS AND REFLECTIONS: Notes:

Ask:
Have you experienced God’s abiding Presence
in your life that made you realize that He has
reserved—set you apart—for Himself? When
was this?

Share experiences about the four messages of

this talk:

Message 1: Let God Be Your Fire and Fuel.

Look under the hood of your heart and check
what fuel you’re using to run your life.

Message 2: God Always Makes the First
Move.
He’s the One who really wants this relation-
ship with us. How often do we get this back-
ward? Many imagine God to be distant and
aloof, so we have to convince Him to give us a
little attention. What a sad picture.

Message 3: God Sets You Apart for Himself.

When the Bible uses the term “holy” It literally
means “set apart”. The opposite of holy is not
evil; The opposite of holy is common. Because
what is common is for everybody, but what
is holy is for God. God visits you and calls you
“Mine”.
Message 4: God Is with You Forever.
In ancient Hebrew, “I AM WHO I AM” is ehyeh
asher ehyeh--means both “being present now
and being present in the future”. Perhaps you
feel alone. And afraid. Like Moses, you feel like
a nobody. You feel like a failure. And you are
worried about tomorrow.

God is telling you right now, “I am with you

now. And I will be with you tomorrow.”
Jesus, after commissioning His disciples, says
these same words: “And be sure of this: I am Notes:
with you always, even to the end of the age.”
(Matthew 28:20b) Because God is consistent, we
can trust Him.

IV. PRAY FOR EACH OTHER

Pray:
Father, You are with me forever. I will stop focus-
ing on what I cannot do and focus on what You
are doing and what You will continue to do. Thank
You for calling me “Mine”. Thank You for always
being with me. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
