God Will Rescue You

Talk 1:
Talk 4: God Will Always Provide Mercy God Is Committed to Your
Flourishing
I. AT FIRST GLANCE:
Talk 2:
Embrace Who You Are
We continue our study of the book of Exodus.
Last week, we talked about Moses’ earth-shak- Talk 3:
ing God-encounter in the Burning Bush. God God Is Always with Me
calls for Moses to partner with Him to deliver
the Israelites from Egypt. Talk 4:
God Will Always Provide Mercy
After this Divine meeting, Moses went to Egypt
and told Pharaoh to let God’s people go. But the
king refused to do so.

We are like the Pharaoh. Whenever we let our

own desires win, we’re telling God, “I’m the god
of my life.”

And the insane thing is that God respects our

wrong decisions. When we choose to rebel
against God, out of His mercy, God will simply
accelerate the end result of our repeated deci-
sions—in the hope that one day we will change
our ways.
Notes:
The key message of the talk is God Will Always
Provide Mercy.

II. REVIEW THE KEY BIBLE VERSES:

Talk 4: God Will Always Provide Mercy

“And who is the Lord? Why should I listen to him
and let Israel go? I don’t know the Lord, and I
will not let Israel go.” (Exodus 5:2 NLT)
“Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest
or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father
feeds them.” (Matthew 6:26 NLT)

God Will Rescue You
“I am the Lord. I will free you from your oppres-
sion and will rescue you from your slavery in
Egypt. I will redeem you with a powerful arm
and great acts of judgment. 7 I will claim you as
my own people, and I will be your God. Then
you will know that I am the Lord your God who
has freed you from your oppression in Egypt.
(Exodus 6:6-7 NLT)
“But I will harden Pharaoh’s heart and though
I multiply my signs and wonders in Egypt, he
will not listen to you.” (Exodus 7:3 NIV, emphasis
mine).

III. ASK FOR REACTIONS AND REFLECTIONS:

Ask:
Have you experienced God respecting your
wrong decisions by allowing the bad conse-
quences of your choices? But have you also
experienced God providing mercy in the situa-
tion? Reflect and share.

Share experiences about the four messages

of this talk:

Message 1: God Is a Giver

God is Yahweh Yireh, the God who provides. Notes:
God is a Giver. God is a generous God. Just look
at the kind of universe around you. God splurg-
es. God lavishes His love on us.

Message 2: God Allows Problems To Change

Us
God doesn’t want us to suffer. God is committed
to our flourishing. But to produce a harvest, the
soil has to be tilled. And the best plow that God
uses are our problems.

Message 3: God Can Hasten the Bad Conse-
quences of Your Choices
When we choose to rebel against God for a long
time, out of His mercy, God will accelerate the
end result of our repeated decisions—in the
hope that one day we will change our ways.

Message #4: God Will Always Provide Mercy

Remember how Pharaoh, without mercy, killed
Hebrew boys in the River Nile? Even as Yahweh,
in His mercy, allowed the death of the firstborn,
also because of His boundless mercy, He pro-
vided a way of escape. God’s mercy was availa-
ble to everyone-- both Hebrews and Egyptians.

IV. PRAY FOR EACH OTHER

Pray:
Father, thank You for Your Merciful Heart. Thank
You for the blood of Jesus, the true Lamb, who
saves me. I put Your love on the doorposts of my
heart as a sign that I receive You, trust You, and
follow You. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
