REFLECTION

Matshepo Msibi discussed the gender inequality issues she has faced throughout her
own life. According to the information presented in the video, nine million young girls between
the ages of six and eleven are unable to receive an education simply because they were born
female. This news comes as a complete surprise to me because I had no prior knowledge of the
predicament that exists on the African continent. It is abundantly clear that there is gender
inequality. It is urgent that governments around the world work to close the gender gap for
women and girls in all aspects of life. This issue is especially pressing in Africa, where millions of
girls do not attend school, putting them at risk of falling behind their male counterparts. The
program that was created by Maborte is the one that I admired the most because it is the best
thing that he did. Its purpose is to enlighten the knowledge of the boys, and it is a program that
teaches and empowers boys while also removing the harmful characteristics of toxic
masculinity. My opinion is that the best place to begin eradicating gender inequality is in the
home, where both men and women should be taught the appropriate way to interact with one
another. As individuals, we need to keep in mind that "the fight for gender equality is a fight for
humanity, not a fight for women," and we should display this quote to show others that no
gender is more powerful than the other.
