How long should concrete cure for a flagpole?
 Allow at least 24 hours for the cement to harden before you can raise the flagpole at its
highest position.
 A school flag pole ranges in height from 20 feet to 45 feet. Most flag poles intended for
public or institutional display generally fall within this range. The most common flagpole
heights are 25-35 feet.

 The following criteria must be met in order for a request to be considered:

a) Flagpoles must not exceed a height of 8 meters above natural ground level.
b) Distance between flagpoles placed close to each other should be a minimum of 1.8
meters.
c) The location of flagpoles shall be appropriate within the context of the surrounding
area and shall not interfere with trees, vegetation, overhead lines or cables,
maneuvering of vehicles, pedestrian access areas, easements or public thoroughfares.
d) Ropes, pulleys and stays must be secured so as not to cause noise nuisance.

How deep should a 20 foot flagpole be?

 Make sure the hole is at least 2 feet deep and four to six times the diameter of the pole to
accommodate the ground sleeve.
 The dimensions of a flagpole foundation are directly related to the height of the pole. For
every 10' in pole height you must dig 1' in depth, width, and length, i.e. 1 cubic foot. For
example, the foundation for a 30' pole must be 3' deep, by 3' wide, and 3' long
Construction procedure
 Dig a wide hole.
 Add about 10-15 cm of gravel to the base of the hole to allow for better drainage.
 Position the post in the hole.
 Mix and pour concrete
 Allow at least 24 hours for the cement to harden before you can raise the flagpole at its
highest position.
