GROSS ACADEMIC DISHONESTY OR CHEATING SANCTIONS / PENALTIES COMPARISON

The Department of Education (DepEd) stands against cheating during examinations. The DepEd firmly believes that
the integrity of the examination system is an essential component of quality education, which is essential to the
development and professionalization of our students.

Cheating during examinations is prohibited for all students and teachers at all levels. The DepEd will conduct
intensive monitoring during examinations to detect any form of cheating or collusion on the part of examinees or
candidates. It will also closely monitor the use of electronic devices such as cellphones, computers, tablets, etc.,
during exams in order to ensure that these are not used for purposes other than that intended.

The Department of Education Philippines has a zero-tolerance policy for online cheating. This policy applies to all
forms of cheating, including but not limited to:

-Copying from someone else's lecture or homework

-Copying from someone else's test

The Department of Education (DepEd) strongly condemns cheating during examinations. This is not only unfair to
the students but also violates the DepEd's Policy on Academic Integrity and Student Conduct which states that it is
strictly prohibited to use any form of assistance during examinations and in all academic activities.

All forms of cheating are considered academic misconduct which may subject the cheater to severe disciplinary
actions, including suspension or expulsion from school.

Below the parameters of DepEd based on their memoranda to its Regional offices, and
Benedictine International School Student Manual as compared to INHS’s Student Handbook
crafted by Mr. Lito Claveria SY 2018 - 2019 in terms of academic dishonesty – cheating:
