OPINION ESSAY

1. Aim: give our opinion on a specific topic.

CONTENT We’ll include three bullet points (2 are given, 1 is our idea). It’s
compulsory to include all of them.

Tone: impersonal (passive voice, introductory “it”) Avoid “you” “we”


Register: formal (avoid contractions/ avoid phrasal verbs)

Overall impression on the reader: thought provoking statement: what
would happen if humans finished the available water resources? //

Topic sentence: the first sentence at the beginning of a paragraph


that tells what the rest of the paragraph is about.
Secondly, when it comes to cost, fast food is quite convenient. Since
it is cheap and readily available for consumption, it is an attractive
option for people who work away from home for many hours.

AVOID repeating “adv”/ “disav”. Instead, use: Ones of the strongest


arguments in favour is the fact that… // On the other hand, there are
several arguments against it.

describe. At the end of a review we must state if we recommend or
not recommend something.
